Brittney Reese To Visit NYC School Wednesday

Olympic Champion Brittney Reese will be in New York City this week to make her first appearance at the historical Millrose Games which is the oldest running T&F event since its start in 1914 at Madison Square Garden. It has since moved to the 168th Street Armory in the Washington Heights section of New York. Reese will compete in the women’s long jump event which she won a gold medal at this summer’s London Olympic Games.

The Millrose Games will be delivered live on ESPN3 on Saturday, Feb 16th and shown at 8:00-10:00pm Sun, Feb. 17th on ESPN. Also scheduled to compete are fellow Olympians Bernard Lagat (mile), Nick Symmonds (800m), Chaunte Howard-Lowe (HJ), Jason Richardson (60H) and Janay DeLoach (wLJ). The women’s long jump is scheduled to be contested at 7:00pm.

While in New York City, Brittney Reese is scheduled to visit a local school P.S.123 Mahalia Jackson Elementary School (301 West 140th street, Manhattan 10030) to talk to a group of students and athletes in the hopes of inspiring and motivating the young students who participate in T&F. YES Inc. is working collaboratively with Black Opal Media to interview Olympic Gold Medalist Brittney Reese for a documentary regarding Girl Empowerment titled "Black Women Unscripted."The interview will be centered on Reese engaging 35 kids in Harlem.The program/event will be heldon Wednesday, February 13, 2013from 3:30 - 5:30pm.
