Saturday October 13, for immediate use

Watch the 2012 De Lage Landen Marathon Eindhoven live on the internet

The 2012 De Lage Landen Marathon Eindhoven, the 29th edition of this famous Dutch race and the most important road race in Europe this weekend thanks to its status as an IAAF Silver Label Road Race, can be watched live on the internet regardless of where you are in the world.

It will be streamed live on the website of the local broadcaster Omroep Brabant, without geo-blocking, via the following link.

Transmission starts at 0930 CET (0745 GMT) with the gun going for the marathon at 1000 CET (0800 GMT).

The race organisers are hoping that the existing men's and women's course records of 2:05:48 and 2:24.33, set Kenya's Jafred Kipchumba and Georgina Rono last year, will be challenged.

The weather forecast is for cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain. The temperature should be from 9 to 12 degrees Celsius between 1000 and 1300 CET tomorrow, which suggests that the weather should not be an impediment to fast times.

“Like any marathon organiser, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will have the appropriate weather to help the runners achieve some really good performances. Having seen the forecast, although you can never be completely certain at this time of year in The Netherlands, I'm quietly optimistic that will be the case tomorrow (Sunday),” commented De Lage Landen Marathon Eindhoven race director Peer Pulles.

The high quality elite field includes three men who have run under two hours seven minutes, and another three who have gone under 2:08 in their careers. The fastest woman is the well-known Dutch runner Miranda Boonstra, who has a best of 2:27:32.

Results of the 2012 De Lage Landen Marathon Eindhoven can be found here.

Approximately 180,000 spectators lined the streets of the Eindhoven in 2011 for the festival of running, which incorporates four other races (see the event website www.marathoneindhoven.nl <http://www.marathoneindhoven.nl/> for further details), and there are high hopes that those numbers will be exceeded this year.

An English-language press brochure which provides details about the elite field, previous winners, the fast two-lap course, and other useful information is available at this link.
