Track & Field News has operated a gold-standard tour to every World Championships, starting with the memorable inaugural edition in Helsinki in 1983. And we are now making arrangements for our 2011 World Championships tour to Daegu, South Korea’s third-largest city. This will certainly be one of the most interesting destinations we’ve been to, and a great trip is in the offing. The World Championships, of course, is a biennial track meet on a par with Olympic Games track & field, where all the world’s best track athletes strut their stuff before a watching world. Remarkable performances and thrilling competition are always on view at the Worlds. The 2011 Worlds will be held in Daegu’s beautiful 66,000-seat stadium, which was used for the 2002 Soccer World Cup and for the 2003 Universiade. A modern training track lies adjacent to the stadium, and an athlete’s village to house 3500 athletes and officials is now ready for the competitors. World Championships XIII dates are August 27-September 4---eight days of track with a rest day on Aug. 31. Tour dates to cover 11 nights: Arrive August 25, Depart September 5.
