I: Melissa Morrison, second-fastest heat winner at 12.83, is in lane 4, with 13.00 prelim performers Sharon Jewell in 3 and Miesha McKelvy in 6. Ohio Stater Donica Merriman is next to Morrison in 5. That should be the finish order, although either Angie Vaughn (lane 1) or Joanna Hayes (2) on the inside might be able to sneak into the final 8.
II: Gail Devers (lane 6) has Anjanette Kirkland in 5 as her main competition. But at 12.57 in her heat, Devers is the class of this field. Kirkland similarly is a clear 2nd but then the next 2 slots are up for grabs among Cheryl Dickey (13.23 heat), Bisa Grant (13.24) and collegian Ellakisha Williamson (13.27).
