Womens' Long Jump
Final
No one in the pressbox could
ever remember a time where the tie-break to determine 3rd went to the
fourth best jump, but that's exactly what happened between Brianna Glenn
and Shana Williams, as both tied at 21-3 1/2, with Glenn's 20-8 1/2
4th best better than Williams's 20-6 1/2 4th best. The win went to Jenny
Adams, who impressed with her 22- 1/4w win. Adams, for whom legendary
Houston/Santa Monica TC coach Tom Tellez came out of retirement to coach,
would also have won with her 21-11w final effort, better than the best
of runner-up Grace Upshaw (21-8 3/4). Interestingly, only Williams has
the World Champs "A" qualifier.
