Women's Hammer

Dawn Ellerbe, USATF champion five of the last six years, added a sixth title. She took the lead on her first throw with 213-8, improved to 226-1 and then 220-2 in the first flight of this two-flight competition. She hit her best, 226-8, in round 4.

In round 2 of flight 2, Anna Norgren, last year's Olympic Trials 4th-placer, moved past Maureen Griffin (211-2) into 2nd with a 212-2 whirl.

After the reorder, in round 4 Nebraska redshirt Melissa Price broke out with a 213-11 heave, to which Norgren responded with a 218-9 that would stand up for 2nd.

Price then caught fire, reaching 214-8 and a PR 217-4.
