Men's Pole Vault
Whoever vaulted best in adverse
conditions was going to be on their way to Edmonton. Lawrence Johnson
continued his strong season by winning in windy and rainy conditions.
Johnson's confidence showed again as he opened at 18-6 ½ and
easily cleared on his second attempt. Only three other competitors made
it over 18-6 ½-- Nick Hysong, Russ Buller, and Tim Mack.
LoJo and Mack both cleared
18-10 ¼ on their first attempts. Hysong and Buller missed on
all three. Hysong grabbed 3rd and a trip to Edmonton on the count back.
Johnson cleared 19-2 ¼ on his first attempt to win the competition.
Mack missed all three at the same height to finish 2nd.
Once vaulting solo Johnson
had the bar moved to 19-10 ¼. There he had two decent attempts.
