MEN'S 110 HURDLE

FINAL

The south wind, nasty in the women's barrier final, was even nastier in the men's race, clocking in at 3.2mps. Nobody gained any particular advantage at the start, but co-world leader Dawane Wallace went the other way, getting out very slowly.

Two-time world champ Allen Johnson had taken control by midway and then proceeded to lengthen his lead all the way to the tape. Obviously not bothered at all by the inclement weather, he flashed across the line in 13.22, the fastest time in the world so far this year.

Training mate Terrence Trammell also closed well to take 2nd at 13.46. The battle for the third spot was an exciting one, Wallace coming on like gangbusters late in the race to overhaul Dominique Arnold for the crucial third team spot, 13.60-13.64. "My race was bad!" said Wallace. "I feel asleep in the blocks."
