Men's Javelin
Breaux Greer, who has recently
signed a contract with adidas which should allow him to concentrate
on training full-time, should be the class of this field. He won the
Olympic Trials last year and made the Olympic final. Not bad for a guy
from Northeast Louisiana. Greer, who now trains in Athens with the burgeoning
throws group under Georgia assistant Don Babbitt, has been consistent
this year, with at least three meets over 80 meters (262-5, for you
knuckleheads).
The exciting twist in this
competition is the entry of American Record holder Tom Pukstys, who
has not competed this year to our knowledge (if anyone else knows to
the contrary, please e-mail: edit@trackandfieldnews.com).
3rd? Well, no one is even
near the World Champs qualifying standard, so the author will not take
the futile effort. Sorry. Hometown fans will be cheering for John Stiegeler,
who won the NCAA title for the Ducks three weeks ago.
