Marathon 

Stephen Kiprotich is only the second to win both the Olympic and World Championships marathon title. 
G Abera was the first winning 2000 and 2001

32 seconds separtion between 1st and 3rd is second smallest in World Championshps history. 
31 seconds in 1999 is the smallest 

6:27 closing 2.195Km is the second fastest in World Championships history. 6:26 is 2003 is the fastest 

ETH became third nation to win multiple medal at the marathon in World Championships. 
Previously, ESP and KEN (twice) won 2 medals at the marathon in World Championships

Kiprotich won first medal of any kind for UGA at the marathon in World Championships

African swept the medal at the marathon for third consecutive World Championships. 

2:09:51 is the fastest marathon on the Russian Soil. Previously RUS All Comers record was 2:10:32 by Nedi from Aug 1984


WHJ 
1.97 ties best 6th place mark at WHJ in WC 

For the second time in the history of WC WHJ, RUS won two medals. 
They also won two medals (silver and bronze) in 1999
In the past, SWE, CUB and URS also won two medals at WHJ in WC

Beitia won first medal (bronze in this case) of any kind at WHJ in WC


W100mH

Semi
12.50 by Pearson ties third fastest semi time in 100mH at World Championships
The fastest semi of 100mH is 12.36 by Pearson from 2011 

Final
For the third time in history of WC, US won both men's and wome's sprint hurdles; 
they also won both in 1995 and 2001 

Porter won first medal for GBR at W100mH in WC 

12.44 by Rollins is the seconf fastest W100mH time on Russian Soil; the fastest is 12.40 by Donkova from 1986 

W5000m

Defar won record fifth medal (2 golds, silver and 2 bronze) at W5000m in WC

14:50.19 is the fastest time in Moskva (previously 14:59.26 by Berkut from 2004) 
but not the RUS all comers record 

10.34 sec is the largest difference between 3rd and fourth at W5000m in WC; 
previous max was 5.95 sec from 1999 

The winning time of 14:50.19 is fastest W5000m since 2005 WC. 

Defar won second gold at W5000m, tying V Cheruiyot, T Dibaba, and Szabo in number of gold category at WC.  

For the fifth consecutive WC, a nation (this time ETH) won multiple medals. 
ETH won multiple medal twice, while KEN did so three times
In fact, ETH swept the medal in 2005.  

29.43 for the last 200m of W5000m is relatively slow finish. Only three time in the history of WC (contested 10 times), 
it was slower

Intermediate time 6:14.02 (2000m) and 9:18.35 (3000m) are slowest ever intermediate time for these distances
at the World Championships 

The lap time from 3000m to 4000m was 2:45.66, and the lap time from 4000m to 5000m was 2:41.19, 
which are fastest in the history of WC.  


W4x400mR

US winning streak came to an end at five 

RUS won third gold at W4x400mR in the WC, first since 2005 


200m

Bolt became the first to win 100m/200m sprint double twice at WC. 

Bolt won record third gold in 200m at WC, surpassing MJohnson and Calvin Smith

Bolt also won record tying (with Frank Fredericks) 4th medal at 200m in WC 

For the first time in WC 200m, JAM won two medals; previously US won 2 medals at this event  5 times in WC  

JAM won Men's and Women's 200m for second consecutive WC; previously US won both men's and womens' 200m three times. 

RUS all comers record for 200m has improved to 19.66

10cm is the smallest winning margin at JT in WC Previous min was 27cm in 2003

Vasely became only the second (after Thorkindsen) European Champion to win the World Championships
