The record was then improved to 78.18

It is a UK all-comers record as well as longest throw in August.

The winning margin of 58cm at WHT is the smallest ever in OG;Previous min was 1.14m from 2008

Defar became the first two time winner at w5000m

The winning time of 4:10.23 is slowest in Olympic history.  Previous slowest was 4:05.48 by Tatyana Kazankina (URS) in 1976
