Various Stat Notes From Olympic Trials Friday

M10000m
Record 11 runners broke 28 min at Men's 10000m at US Olympic Trials.
Previous high at USOT was 7 in 2008.
The best marks for place at USOT were set for place 1 to (at least) 11.

Rupp ran second fastest time by American in Eugene;
He is now ahead of his coach Alberto Salazar, who ran 27:30.00 in April of 1982
(remember the epic duel with Henry Rono?)
fastest is 27:16.99 by Abdirahman from 20008.

Rupp's time is also the second fastest time by American in month of June.
He again moved ahead of Salazar, who ran 27:25.61 in Olso in 1982
Fastest again, is 27:16.99 by Abdirahman from 2008.

Before the race, of the 13 sub-28 min 10000m at OT, ten were recorded in Eugene.
Now of the 24 sub-28 min 10000m at OT, 21 were recorded in Eugene.

Before the race, only three runners broken 27:45 (Olympic A for this year) at USOT.
Five runners broke 27:45 in this race.  
Rupp became the  first to break 27:45 twice at the USOT.  

W10000m
The winning margin of 0.85 sec at W10000m in USOT is the smallest winning margin ever.
Previous min was 2.91 four years ago.

The best marks for place for place 5-8 at US OT were recorded.

Decathlon (I think you all heard these but...)

100m
10.21 by Eaton is the fastest ever 100m during the Decathlon.
Old record is by Chris Huffin in 1996 OT in Atlanta.

Eaton's 8.23 is the longest LJ during the Decathlon.
Previous best was 8.22 by Erki Nool.  

46.70 by Eaton is the fastest 400m during Decathlon in the Olympic Trials.
