The .wmv version is best suited for downloading because of 2 factors:
1) It compresses the file down to a size for more room on a server or disk. This also makes for saving more space on data transfer, which could cost a lot of money, especially with large files such as video clips.
2) It greatly reduces the downloading time, as you stated, on people with dial-up.
The videos, I assume, were made using Windows Movie Maker which is ideal for web production in this instance. Let's not forget that the webmaster, as do many with sites just like his, conducted all of this with his own time and money.

Hey buddy, go to hell. This is a HS kid who has taken his time to do all this. Does he get paid? Does he ask for anything in return? NO. he is a fan who wants to share with others.
I am getting sick and tired of T&F fans compalining all the time about coverage of the sport.
+ You complain when meets are not on
+Then when meets are on you are mad they are not 100%
+Then you are upset they don't show every lap of every race
+Then when they show part of teh 5k you are pissed they don't show every step.
+Now this kid takes time to tape these races, put them on his site and all you can do is pick.
