Long Career

Postby LopenUupunut » Tue Jun 11, 2013 4:05 am

Happy 61st birthday today (Tuesday) to an athlete with two World Indoor Championship gold medals.

Competing at the top for more than a decade, our birthday athlete also won two medals at the outdoor World Championships but no Olympic medals. This athlete's son is also a World Indoor medallist.

The outdoor medals, both of them bronze, are from the same World Champs. Neither of them was a relay medal. Name today's birthday athlete.

Yekaterina Podkopayeva? Don't know about a medal winning son though.

That was quick! Well done, Rog, and happy 61st birthday to Yekaterina Podkopayeva, winner of the women's 1500 at the 1993 and 1997 WICs and the oldest World Indoor champion and medallist yet.

Pretty sure Andrey Yepishin is her son.
