Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Aluminum

Postby DoubleRBar » Wed May 15, 2013 7:26 am

Happy 78th birthday today (Wednesday) to an Olympic champion who was born on a Wednesday and won the Olympic gold medal on a Wednesday in September.

Eight years before this Olympic champion won gold, an athlete won the Olympic gold medal in springboard diving. Both people have the same initials.

Winning the NCAA championship the same year that Disneyland opened in Southern California, this athlete represented a university which opened in 1842.

Born in 1947, this singer ("Space Oddity") shares the same initials as our birthday person.

Don't even think about the hurdles when trying to figure this athlete's name.

An Olympic 100 meter champion from the 20th Century has the same initials as our birthday individual.

Take the following ten letters and unscramble them to find the name of the high school our champion attended. RNN GO VEEPS.

Our birthday athlete set a world record about eight weeks before winning the Olympic gold medal.

This champion was 25 years old when winning the gold medal in Europe.

Forget the weight events when wondering about this athlete.

Name our birthday athlete for today.

This champion never made it to Tarzan, but you're on the right vine.

DB

OK, I cheated, and can't play further, but the tarzan subplot is fascinating. And couldn't noone's answer be considered correct given it was the athletes nickname?

The initials gave it away. I saw/heard his Tarzan rendition live on TV.

It is true that Bragg never played Tarzan in the movies. In his autobiography he explains that he was fascinated with Tarzan long before he became a pole vaulter, and he thought it was natural that he should go on to play Tarzan, but circumstances conspired against him.

Very good Bruce Kritzler and happy birthday today to Don Bragg. I always thought Don would have made a pretty good Tarzan.

However, he wasn't born in 1947, but 1935
