Go read the post by lonewolf. if you do not understand why this jump by Reese is pretty efficient go read that post until you understand it. He has pointed out that many jumpers with the position shown in your picture end up falling back and losing more distance than if their legs were under them.
By the way, if you think that you know more about this than lonewolf I won't bother reading any of your posts about track and field technique.
