Looking at the t&fnews lists, 8322 would be #4 collegiate all-time, behind Hardee, Pappas, Eaton.

PV results finally in.
Hock vaulted 4.69 (15-4 and 1/2), for 816 pts.
Total after 8 events is 6856!!

Can he get the CR??
He needs to score 1610 pts in his last two events.
He seems to be strong in the throws, so he MIGHT get a good JT.
And with 49+ 400 speed, he COULD produce a sub-4:30 1500.

But will he??
Stay tuned!!

Sub 4:30 from someone who's never gone below 4:45 is a bit much to ask. With 62m and 4:40 he would still be over 8300 points though.

Hock got 208-9 (63.63) in the JT for 793 pts, and a total, after 9 events, of 7649.

To get......

8224 (CL), he needs a 4:57.44 1500.
8300, he needs to run 4:44.77.
8400, he has to run 4:29.10.
the CR (8466), he has to run 4:19.27.

Given his 4:45 PR, 8300 seems most likely.
But he's been PR'ing all over the place, so........!!??

Whatever he runs, it's going to be a BIG score!!
BTW, the frosh class record is the 8223 that Uibo did earlier this year, so he should get at least that.

A question for the americans: With his 8293 points Hock could actually qualify for Moscow for Germany, but he would have to compete either in Götzis or Ratingen. And he can't do that if he has another competition coming in the US. So are there any NCAA competitions coming where he may have to be?

NCAAs are five weeks from now. For multi-event athletes there are no NCAA regionals (for all other events those take place three weeks from now), so yeah, NCAAs in five weeks would be the one competition for him.

That could be a problem for him, if he has to compete at the NCAAs. According to the german nominating criteria for Moscow Hock could break the WR at the NCAAs and still not go to Moscow because Götzis and Ratingen are the main qualifying events.

The number for Germany could go up this year, at the moment Schrader and Abele seem healthy (yeah, unbelievable, i know). So there could be seven candidates for three Moscow spots:

Pascal Behrenbruch 8558 PB
Michael Schrader 8522
Arhur Abele 8372
Rico Freimuth 8322
Johannes Hock 8293
Jan-Felix Knobel 8288
Kai Kazmirek 8130

Broersen Nadine broke 38-year-old 1.88m HJ NR of NED with a 1.89m and set 13.56s 100mH pb,while dafne schippers fell down the second hurdle in 100mH,after that she ran 17.10s in 150m, both of them will participate in Gotizs along with Sintnicolaas Eelco who did poorly in 110mH and so-so discus.

Gambetta has totally lost form and looks too 'heavy' and muscular.

Chernova opened her season last week at the Russian Cup:

100mh - 13.52
HJ - 1.80
200m - 23.89
LJ - 6.57

She should be on for a score between 6600 and 6700 in Gotzis.

A good, not great junior at Wisconsin did individual events at Big Tens (letting her teammate win the title and get a mark for NCAAs) she had

100mH 13.15/3.1 (started year at 13.6?)
High Jump 1.70
Javelin Throw 38.77 [2-meter PR]
Long Jump 5.96 (not much better than high school, where it was her premier event, I think)

Here is a another German decathlon comeback story: Arthur Abele, who hasn't finished a decathlon since 2008, when he scored 8372 points, achieved 4064 points for day 1 in Bernhausen today. That's only about 100 points below his first day from 2008, so a result over 8000 points is certainly possible.

10.98 (+0,9), 7.27 (+1,1), 14.25, 1.93, 49.52, 14.05 (-1,2), 41.84, 4.70, 66.74, 4:28.01 .

6. BRA..2,2
7. BLR..1,2
7. CUB..1,2
9. CZE..0,2

From a German perspective Ratingen is going to be even more interesting this year than normal. Behrenbruch, Freimuth and Felix-Knobel need to lay down good scores to be selected. Schrader must surely have secured his place; even if Behrenbruch and Freimuth score higher I can't imagine Felix-Knobel will as well. As already discussed Johannes Hock is the interesting one with the A qualifier from this season, but from a 'non qualifying' or 'other' decathlon meeting (in terms of German Qualifying rules)

If none of the guys in Ratingen score over Hock's 8293 then he must get selected, unless they then try and get another decathlon meet in soon. If just one goes over surely he gets selected too?

norunner, what is the German qualifier criteria for performances set in 2012? Don't they insist on marks from this year in the multievents?

If after Ratingen there is still a slot available (meaning nobody manages 8200 or more there), then marks from 2012 may be accepted. The weather forecast for Ratingen is great, so i think at least two will go over 8200 there.

I would be very surprised if the top three in Ratingen would not be the three that represent Germany (assuming that I understand correctly that all 8300+ scores in Ratingen are guaranteed a spot). Especially among the men this is very strong competition.
Hope our German contingent will help us to enjoy this competition by positing previews and updating through the competition

Only the first two are guaranteed a spot if they achieve 8300+. So for Schrader not to be selected the first three in Ratingen would have to be over 8427 points and thats extremely unlikely. And i really want to see Schrader in Moscow because he is the biggest German talent since Busemann. The conditions in Ulm (where he got his 8427) were as bad as in Götzis, very cold and rain throughout the two days, that alone cost him at least 100 points. I think he could go over 8600 in Moscow if he stays healthy.

Yeah, since 2011,she grew up too strong to imagine a heptathleta herself, plus long injury she put on lots of fat and lose speed a lot,her LJ,HJ,100mH,200m best all stay in 2010 when she is 17.Her performances in Ratingen already beyond our predict, near best 100mH,not bad 200m in 1.4 headwind, but her HJ down a lot.She may toss SP over 17m this season if she stay healthy.Just now I search the EU-23 SP rankings,Gambetta' 16.17m can rank 8th and 2nd best German behind Lena Urbaniak 16.99m,and she still has some chances to beyond the mark. However,if she want to continue to do heptathlon well, she need to put down weight to run and jump well.Or she is willling to developing to a new Eva Wilms? :D,let's see.

Nadine Broersen won 3-challenge combined events which include 100mH,HJ and SP,she had 2925p /13.62s,1.90m / NR and 13.88m/PB over Yana Maksimava 2772p and Melnychenko 2711p,BTW,Broersen will participate in Swiss Notwill of Euorpean combined events. While men side includes 110mH,LJ and DT,KARPOV had 2951p,5 points beyond Andrei Krauchanka, plus Eelco Sintnicolaas 2513p to improve his outdoor form .

Leichtathletik Gala - Salzburg ( three events only )

Yes, great day for Nadine , it was only a month ago she broke the 38 year old Nederlands National High Jump record with 1.89m and now a month later breaks it again with 1.90m , the weather was good and she felt confident to got for it , nice clearance and good control . Its 55 days till the World Championships - Moscow and she feels there is a good chance to clear 1.91m before then . Back to results , in the 100m Hurdles she bumped into Yana Maksimova which slowed her down so 13.62 is ok ( PB 13.50 ) , then the High Jump and I,ve covered that , the Shot Put was interesting , with her Coach Ronald Vetter she has been working on rotation and extension but it hasn't quite clicked until now 13.88m a new PB
Now one thing that has frustrated people was the lack of information , there were no Event updates at all , nothing , all the information I sourced was from 3rd parties , the Event Organizers posted the Official Results almost 17 hours after the Event had finished ,yes it was the first time they had run the Event but there should have better communication , I have been in contact with them and they will make changes for next year

Not a big field of Athletes but a good mix , I,m sure the Event will go from strength to strength , just needs those Live Updates
Final Results

Yeah,Broersen performed well, but Maksimava and Melynenko did bad,in Maksimava best HJ,she struggled first time this year, only clearanced 1.83m,while Melynenko even 1.75m,plus their terrible 100mH.

Broersen has perfect form except HJ and JV which are sub-par for her, only 1.81m HJ/9cm less than her NR and 44.60m JV/10m down to her PB destroyed her way to set new NR in heptathlon. If she got her form standards, she can score more than 250p to her 6238p winning score despite -2.2 wind in 200m.While menside,Sintnicolaas scored 8332p to recover his form gradually.

She may well break the Hep Shot Put. But can a throwing based athlete medal in the current trend of heptathlon?

20-year-old Gambetta threw 16.36m PB,29th June in GER,Which including series of 16.08m,16.04m,15.83m,16.25m,15.76m,16.36m

After this year shot competitions, she shows great consistent and maybe turn to be a SPer.BTW,she has already been in GER U23 team to Tampere despite not in heptathlon, she will participate in SP along with Shanice Craft and Lena Urbaniak, while Kira Biesenbach, Carolin Schäfer and Alina Biesenbach will represent GER in heptathlon.Congraduate to Gambetta, :D

20-year-old Sara Gambetta, the big hope for GER Heptathlon once, decided to focus on SP after withdrawing 3-events challenges.Hope she can become world-class in SP later.

Not a good idea; in order to be world class/medal contender she needs to add between 2 and 3 metres to her SP best. And this sounds more than impossible to me; she is very good as an heptathlon thrower but nothing special as a shot putter. I see her getting 17+ within the end of next year, nothing better.
