Prom $$$

An average of $1200 on prom? Something is wrong with that.

A single mother where I work maintains 2 jobs to barely eke out the living, yet her snotty daughter got her to pay $625 for a prom dress. A one-time wear. Insane!

Edited the price.

Oh, it's MORE than that when you factor in the full day's activities. Yeah, I don't get it either, but it's a mom/daughter thing, so we're not supposed to get it . . .

I would not even blink an eye, if the mother could afford it, but she cannot. Her second job is cleaning houses, getting paid roughly $50-60/per. 11-12 houses for that dress  .

I suppose a lot of this nonsense is due to some dumb reality show.

Your date doesn't necessarily go to your school. If you're prepping somewhere it isn't unusual to go to two (hers/his).

Got through junior year without a prom dress, odds under 50% for next year.

I had two daughters go to multiple proms. If it cost anything like that, their mother never let me know it. :)

That is probably the right answer. Mothers and daughters in cahoots for the goods and finding crafty ways to hide it. Three daughters, last prom will be next weekend. We did tell them one dress and that is it. Since they are all about the same size, the younger one's have used the older one's one time used dress.

That's right - its a mother/daughter thing, like weddings. The guys usually don't care. They're after only one thing - after the prom. All I remember from my 2 high school proms was getting thrown out of one, and being violently drunk at the other. Didn't get what I was looking for at either one.
