Three brothers and a relay

Postby philippevw » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:54 am

On May 1st, the Borlee twins (Kevin & Jonathan) will run a 4 x 400 m relay in Belgium with their younger brother Dylan and a fourth runner. I would like to know if it has ever happened that 3 brothers run on the same (competitive) relay team in the history of track & field. Can someone help me? Thanks
Phil

Perhaps 3 Mills brothers for A&M in the early '70s? And i'm pretty sure that Byron Dyce and his brothers put together a foursome once back then too.

Didn't three of the Howard sisters run on a 4x4 relay that set a HS record back in the day?

edit: to change 4x1 to 4x4 after I checked lists

How about the three Clark sisters (yes, I know one was actually a sister-in-law)?

Short memories or just too young? The Smith Bros. (No beards, cough, cough;~) of Lincoln HS, NJ, in the mid-50's: Louis, Hosea, and (drum roll) Zinneford. Fourth man Richie Simms was every bit as fast as they scorched the (old) Madison Square Garden 11-Lap Track. Louis was only a Freshman.

Fortunately, my long-term memory is a lot better than the short, as evidenced by confusing Elijah Greer (1:46.2) w/ Andrew Wheating (1:49.24) this weekend.

In Event 105 at the Penn Relays, the HS Girls 4X800R for Large Schools, there are three Parker's as Neenah HS (WI) team members.
Jessica, Jennifer, and Alison.
But their class isn't listed, so don't know if, or how, they're related.
It's possible, however, that they ARE sisters!!

They ran 9:24.89 in their heat.

ADD: Walt Murphy's great Penn Preview (front page article) DOES confirm that they're sisters.
However, still unknown are their class, or whether two of them are twins, or whatever.

4th Dyce brother was Leo, who was a student at Georgetown, and had to get ncaa approval to run on non-school team at US Olympic Invite indoors. They went around 3:23.

This be 4 bros and a relay

4x400 = 46.7r, 47.8, 49.x, 50.x

4x800 = 1:49.4, 149.6, 1:51.2, 1:58.x

DMR- lifetime Prs + one 'projected' = low 9:30s

howvever never actually ran a relay together ... all individual PRS

We regularly get seven-brother orienteering relay teams up here. Of course those are seldom very competitive :)

can't believe I forgot this (has been a trivia question on this forum before): what 3 sisters have official IAAF record plaques for the same relay?

Teamates on the same relay team, or each for the same relay event at different times?
