and by a nice margin... think if they get Josh Mance back on their 4x4 relay. To think of his potential if he weren't also high jumping?... nice form with that long stride in the 400. There's a future there and I believe is the current American leader at 45.25 after all the 400's I saw today?.. and he's no stranger to the 400, as he ran 46.66 as a junior in high school.

Hopefully you guys can also remember he is a transfer from Mississippi St where he was both a High Jumper and major part of their 4x4....

This time last year he ran 45.58 for 400m so the progression seems expected.

Thanks ATK... thanks to live internet feed, Friday's easy 400 ACC heat by J. Harris was the first time I viewed him in a full run, and was pretty impressed. I guess I always looked at him as a high jumper first, runner second, sorta like Christian Taylor... In what used to be an event dominated by the Americans, I guess I'm always looking for some of these 45.x guys to take it down to the low-44 level, hence, I wondered with my limited knowledge of J. Harris what further progress he could make if that were his full focus. Anyhow, for US 400 runners, he should be the American leader after some of today's (April 20) American 400 times across the country...
J. Harris - 45.25 - ACC
D. Verburg - 45.56 - MJ/Baylor
B. Nellum - 45.65 - Mt. SAC
J. Wariner - 45.72 - MJ/Baylor
G. Roberts - 45.73 - Mt. SAC
T. Lawrence - 45.80 - Auburn
T. McQuay - 45.88 - Tom Jones
T. Gay - 45.95 - Tom Jones

Curious that the errant number is 8.95; one guess is the the WR number got copied and the actual value for that competitor was similar (e.g., 6.95).

Anyone of you Texans know much about this guy? What's his running style like? What is his biggest weakness right now? Biggest strength? How is his form? What do you think of his coaches? etc

Good point lol. I haven't been following collegiate sprints very carefully (aka: basically not at all other than UCLA and USC to some extent (I'm a UCLA fan)) in the past couple years. I guess I'm gonna go watch some of this guy's championship runs on youtube now.

This makes a lot more sense now lol. I was like man... who is this guy... he seems really good lol

at this point, I split off the lightweight putter thread, and request that in the interest of keeping topics easy to find and appealing to a wider range of people that no new topics be broached in this thread, or by the end of the year it'll be dozens of pages long and have no real point.

thank you.

i have no idea what a "compilation results thread" is, but anything that attempts to lump together marks from dozens of different competitions in different events at different levels makes zero sense at this time of year. During the indoor season, sure, but you might as well just start a thread that says "2013" and put everything in it.

Instead it makes more sense to open a new thread for every tiny meeting in the world where someone achieves a noteworthy time/mark ? Last year the outdoor results thread worked well and didn't get locked, this year it doesn't work anymore?

I actually really want the Outdoor Results thread to stay- I like to follow results from round the world but don't have the time to wade through them all and when something of note happens in a minor meet, it can go in there- I'd much rather have that then a hundred threads littering the forum...

I don't really see the issue- we've had one like this for years and it's always been fine?

How about having four threads:
Sprint 2013 (up to 400h)
Middle/long 2013
Jumps 2013
Throws 2013
In which we can post all notable results from small meets ?

Which still means you might end up with having to post in four separate threads for one small meet. The problem is, someone found a problem where there is none. So since "management" decided to close this thread, how about they come up with an alternative?

I enjoyed the thread, especially with inputs from scattered (yet significant) tidbits/insight from our European friends (actually all our non-American friends) which I often don't see/catch until reported by T&FN. The major meets have their own thread, so where does one put the other stuff - I'm still learning the appropriate balance between the two.

So, if during the next 4 months, there are meets that produce results of significance, but are not DL meets or major national/regional champs which may attract their own threads, we will have to start a new thread for any such performances.

I just started a new thread, 2013 Minor Meets Results Thread, with simple guidelines in the opening post. Use it appropriately and I expect it will stay up.

gh is our referee/umpire. If he calls a foul, it's a foul, regardless of what we may think. Players have to adjust how they play to the way the game is being called.
