VCB opening season with 400m in late March

Postby liz 21 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:01 am

"Another month of training has transpired with my aim fixed on the 2013 outdoor season, which I am hoping to start in late March.
I suspect the 400m or a leg in the 4x400m will be my opener given the leaning of my coach. To be honest, I enjoy watching the 400m, it is one of my favorite events to watch and let me emphasize the word ‘watch’….lol!
So far, I am quite pleased with my training so I will be ready to take the one lap." Read more here: http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/diaries/ve ... er-one-lap

Who ever her coach is have realized that every time she starts the season with a 400m race she does great thing through out the season. i guess that's what her management team is trying to do like how this is a world Championship year.

Looks like she ran an early 400m in 2005, 2010 and 2011 with her indoor debut of 52.24 being her fastest. 2010 certainly wasn't one of her better seasons and in 2005 she missed a WC medal at 200m.

2010 wasn't one of better seasons? You must be kidding.

In 2010, she ran a PR of 7.00 in the 60m winning at the World Indoor Championshiops.

In 2010, she also ran 10.78 which was a PR for her then.(break a 5 year PR from 2005).

Also, in 2010 was the last time she broke 22 seconds over 200m. She ran 21.98 beating Felix in New York.

2010 represented a great year for her starts since it was the first time in her career, we began to know Veronica as a "starter". Previous to 2010, she usually had average starts and great finishes.

She beat Jeter 3 times in 2010.

She did be Jeter. However, he 'good' starts also had a tendency to be her 'semi-rolling' starts. The best explanation of the problem with this start is from a Jamaican guy (shw would leave her lower body static but be moving her upper body forward. At the WCs in 2011 this cost her because the starter held the gun longer than she expected and she had to stop herself and then when the gun sounded she was a bit out of position. She seems to have changed to a legal start that is more reliable but a bit slower than she had for a year or two.
