New HS Boys Record for 300mMichael Cherry (Smith, Chesapeake) 33.05 at the Virginia State meet. Old HSR 33.19 by William Reed back in ’86.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mAnd that is on a flat track...
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
What is the young man's 400 time?
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
46.37 last year
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
No, it is a 200 meter track. I just checked the facility website.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mthe fact that I called a High School Record by definition means it's not an oversized track.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mVa holds both boys n girls hs records in then300m
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
45 isn't an unreasonable expectation for outdoors then.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mI love the 300m! 33.05 is smokin'!
Looks like he ran the 300 last indoor season (2012) in 34.08 before his 46.37 outdoors. He's also run 500m indoors this year in 63.39 vs. 64.20 last year. He's also run 400m indoors this year in 48.08 vs. 49.20 last year. So, 1.03" improvemnt in 300m, 1.12" improvement in 400i, 0.81" improvment in 500m. I'm thinking 45-low this year outdoors. Probably not 44.xx, but could be close! Stats from following link, except for 46.37 outdoors for some reason not listed: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=1833198#L4

reed was the man bck in the day The previous record for a 400-meter relay leg was 45.10 seconds, set 11 years ago by William Reed of Central High School in Philadelphia. here;s his 200 and 400 time http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/united-sta ... rogression
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mWilliam Reid, a 16-year-old high school junior from Philadelphia, ran the final leg in 44.44 seconds to seal the gold medal for the United States. Reid almost lost his place on the team after contracting chicken pox.
thats the 1986 world junior team im athens roberto hernandez of cuba was 2nd behind reed in the relay
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
Reed's 33.19 was also on an unbanked track (Coxe Cage at Yale). He was a sophomore that year.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mdoesn't appear to be the same race.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
And it's a race from a different venue (George Mason), from last year's 2012 Indoor Virginia Regionals... I think this may have been what az2004 meant to post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia-zpy8mSLI
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mGreat interview of Cherry linked to front page in "Day's best reading".
http://va.milesplit.com/articles/101251-michael-cherry-in-his-own-words-on-his-national-record-300 He's run a 62.61 500m this season!
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
thanks for the corr4ction, just getting back to this race was watching the brooks stuff and the delano williams, 44.8 relay split in jamaica
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mAfter reading the interview, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't break the indoor HS 400 record next week.
It's 45.92.
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mahh, I didn't know what the record is. Thanks.
I hate it when an article referrences a record and doesn't say what it is! I think the outdoor HS 400m is 44.69.

Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mthe old record for 300 was william reed
reed at 1986 world junior 4x4 anchor ran a 44.44 ancor to run down roberto hernadez of cuba are we talking hs record or junior record steve lewis in seoul set the junior reorc under 45 45.92 is listed as hs indoor recrod on t&f news lists
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300m
The indoor boys HSR is 45.92 by Elzie Coleman in 2004. The outdoor HSR is the 44.69 by Darrell Robinson in 1982!! The 43.87 by Steve Lewis was run at the 1988 OG, and Lewis was then a 19 year old attending UCLA!! The best source for all HS marks and records, boys and girls, indoors and outdoors is High School Track by Jack Shepard!! An invaluable source!!
Re: New HS Boys Record for 300mcherry best is 48.08 so indoors this year
45.92 is over 2 seconds faster, that's tough in the armory
