Re: 2013 Indoor Results
BUt how many female teenage sprint prodigies go on to improve as adults ? in the UK it's practically none
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Sweden seem to have a good track record in getting talented kids to adult elite performers. However the Uk seems to be getting better. The likes of Jess Judd, Johnson-Thompson, etc of recent breakthrough years appear to be genuinely bucking the former trend.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsThey're still teenagers
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsShaun Barber freshman 18-3¾ (5.58m) and earlier NCAA leader at 18-4 (5.60m),
Japheth Cato, Wisconsin, 6024 Heptathlon Barbara Geubelle, Kansas, 21-11½ (6.69m)
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Whoa re already clocking elite athlete perfromances. The UK has had prior problems bringing talent to adult ability, not in athletes going backwards in their teenage years. We are now getting some already bucking this trend.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsSurprised no one mentioned Kimberlyn Duncan's 7.16 at the armory. She has dropped her 60 pr twice in a row. I am sure that will transfer well to the longer distances outdoors.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsAlso big.... Janay Deloach well known for long jump wins 60 meter hurdles in Boston in 7.97.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
I will be following this girl closely. It is going to take alot to screw up the natural talent that she has. In perspective she is probably capable of running around 23 flat outdoors in the middle of winter. Her numbers right now are reminding me of Allyson Felix and Marion Jones. She is def one to watch.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
There's a post-race interview with her at LSU Track & Field's facebook.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsAurieyall Scott new world leading time 23.14. The 200 is starting to get poppin.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Heaven protect us from a stream of sprint or other prodigies... even the teenies in East Africa already elite runners burn themselves out so frequently.... exceptions exist of course. I am reluctant to take seriously for the future any athlete under 18 and even the the world class juniors of 18/19 so often don't do the elite business... there are of course exceptions.. just hope that Jacko Gill does not do a Nesterenko... rather a Storl. Jess Judd was mentioned by Eldaniel... remember to have a look at the Britishwomens under 20 stats for women in this event... a good number never went to the elite at national /international level.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsAlso Margaret Adeoye (GB) 22.98
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Wow 3rd best UK of all time and only .04 slower than her outdoor best
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Who else thinks she is underachieving in the TJ (as good as she is . . . for an Ami)?
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Didn't Solinsky say "East Africans do not want to hurt from 1000m out? What does he know? What a brilliant race by Gebrhiwet!
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Well, her best TJ is over 14m, so they are similar in quality. And teh LJ was this season, although her TJs this season are modest at 13+
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsRegina George ran a WL of 51.67 at Tyson today
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsA pretty good collegiate 5000 at the Husky Invite, including the top 3 within 0.01:
1 Williams, Kevin Oklahoma 13:38.57 2 Kipchirchir, Shadrack Oklahoma State 13:38.57 3 Rotich, Anthony Utep 13:38.58 4 Darling, Maverick Wisconsin 13:38.71 5 Elkaim, Jeramy Oregon 13:39.35 6 Caldwell, Luke New Mexico 13:40.39 7 Ahmed, Mohammed Wisconsin 13:40.43 8 Ward, Jared Byu 13:41.97 9 Kebenei, Stanley Arkansas 13:42.15 10 Lowry, Dan Michigan 13:42.48 11 Aprill, Bobby Michigan 13:44.34 12 Thatcher, Tylor Byu 13:45.43 13 Bouchikhi, Soufiane Eastern Kentucky 13:48.47 14 Chelimo, Micah Alaska Anchorage 13:51.19 15 Springer, Andrew Georgetown 13:51.72 16 Fay, Dustin Ucla 13:51.96 17 Krause, Elliot Wisconsin 13:53.60 18 Olson, Erik Stanford 13:54.55 19 Dennin, Mark Georgetown 13:54.68 20 Proctor, Gabriel Western State 13:55.37 21 Jarvis, Collin California 13:56.36 22 Werley, Lane Ucla 13:57.10
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsIndiana University's Derek Drouin is still flying high:
Hoosier Hills Invit. Bloomington, IN 2/8/13 2.33 7' 7 1/2 clean daylight clearance, new Gladstein Fieldhouse record 3 misses at 2.35 (none real close) I know all this as I was officiating the HJ.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsBleasdale just made 4.77m and is attempting 4.90m (UKA streaming live)
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsAnywhere to stream the UK Indoor Championships?
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsStream my ass; i luckily got some sound but no picture once but then I have not a seen video for the meet; tried again aftera break and got nowt; typical British cock-up. Band width all wrong or software ???
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
I couldn't get it when I first tried then read on twitter they had a techno cock-up which was fixed. But when I did get on it kept freezing so I eventually aborted. Saw about 70% while I was on but eventually gave up as it was getting irritating. Saw Bleasdale bail out of each attempt at 4.90m though.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsA good win, since the commies were hyping this as a Vicault-vs-Perez final.... http://www.trackalerts.com/news/lead-st ... son-opener
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Yeah I'm pleased she got a stadium record and WL but the manner in which she choked the 4.90m is worrying considering how she easily bowed out of the Olympics. I'm not sure she copes well with pressure in certain moments.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsSome good collegiate stuff from the Tyson meet:
Aurieyall Scott.....22.68 Kim Duncan........22.72 Andrea Geubelle...45-7 3/4 Geubelle is CL in both the LJ and TJ. ADD: Geubelle NOT the CL in TJ!! But still an indoor PR for her!!
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Ain't it ironic that Kimberly Duncan's first defeat comes with a pr? Aurieyall Scott is proving she is the new blue chip it girl in the 200. Kim has some real competition now and I like that.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsForgot to mention NCAA cross country champ Kennedy Kithuka now has run 13:26.65 for 5000 indoors, the fastest this year....and it's on a legal-size track!!
Second in that race was one MINUTE back!!!
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsDutch multi's championships Apeldoorn Feb. 9-10
Eelco Sintnicolaas 6341 NR, WL, 12th AT 6.97, 7.50, 14.01, 2.08, 7.88, 5.40, 2:41.30 Pb was 6175 points, notable improvement in high jump, never over 2.00m.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Matter of time for his 2.35m. He's a prodigy and has recovered well from his surgery.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Any video links for that 200m race?
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
See the home page link for the video of the 2.25 HJ in Taiwo's Hept. If you do that one, the 200 is available lower down. Also, we all know that the outer lanes are absolutely necessary to do well in the 200 (and is why it was dropped from the WIC). The 0.04 differential between the two is possibly accounted for by the differences between lanes 5 and 6.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
This could be a good season in the collegiate w400 (and w4x400, for that matter).
