That race is from 2010 season not 2013.

When pushed, Bolt can run much faster in a open 400m if he wants to. Usually, he takes it easy in most open 400m races. He has said repeatedly, he hates the 400m even though while in high school, he was a 200/400m runner and has the Jamaican high school records for both.

In 2010, he ran a 43.58 anchor leg for 2nd place in a 4 x 400m in Kingston. It was amazing how much Bolt's team was behind a the beginning of the anchor leg and how much ground he made up.

In the 400m over the years, Bolt only runs enough to win.

The only time Bolt has ever been "All Out" in a 400m is in that 4 x 400m race linked above.

Bolt ran 45+ in the open 400m in HS at 17 years old has been only marginally faster(deliberately) since.

Paced himself and ran a conservative 250... was behind at 300m and then put in the work from then out to take the win. Lactic acid smacked him something vicious after that race though, He seemed understandably out of it at the end of the race.

Shows strength. I do expect a 1-2-3 finish and possibly 4th place as well in the mens 200m at the WC in Russia this summer.

Jamaica will have 4 entrants in the mens 100 and 200m as well as womens 200m.

Also in the women's 100. A perk from winning the DL in the year prior to a WC year is that the winner of the DL trophy gets a bye for the next WC (provided the country doesn't already have someone with the a bye in that event already, a maximum of 4 athletes are allowed). So SAFP has an automatic spot in the 100.

Bolt has said repeately he has ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in running the 400m. It is just crazy fans, the track and field media that keeps hyping up the possibility.

He has the potential(43+ anchor leg video above), but he does not want to.
