ParadiseHappy 74th birthday today (Tuesday) to an Olympic champion who has four children. Our birthday champion played in the Rose Bowl the year before winning the Olympic gold medal. This athlete won the U.S. Olympic Trials and the Olympic gold medal included a world record performance. Only 21 years old when winning the Olympic gold medal, this person later became a teacher and a coach. Eliminate the hurdles and the decathlon when thinking about our birthday athlete. Name this champion.
Re: ParadiseNice job, KDFINE and happy birthday today to Jack Yerman, gold medalist on the four by 400 relay in Rome (1960). Jack won the 1960 Olympic Trials 400 at Stanford, but he didn't make the Olympic 400 final. In fact, the man who was third at our Olympic Trials (Otis Davis) won the Olympic 400 gold medal. Jack Yerman ran the opening leg on the relay which beat Germany and set a new world record of 3:02.2. Otis Davis anchored that relay in 45.25. Yerman had been ill in Rome and I'm sure he would have made the 400 final, had he been healthy. Happy birthday Jack Yerman.
Re: ParadiseI was sort of stumped thinking you'd erred, and then I thought of the relay.
