Lots of Whistles

Postby DoubleRBar » Tue Jan 29, 2013 5:07 pm

Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to an Olympic champion that may not have been the most popular Olympic champion ever, however today this person did win one Olympic gold medal.

Our birthday champion also has a silver and a bronze medal from the World Championships.

This athlete married and divorced someone from a different continent.

Don't worry about the hurdles or the weight events when trying to figure this name.

Winning the Olympic gold medal at the age of 25, this person was not without controversy.

No more clues. Name our birthday athlete.

Per Andersen, you are correct. Today is Khalid Skah's 46th birthday. You know that Khalid won the 10,000 in Barcelona in 1992. It was a very close race to the finish with Richard Chelimo (Skah won by about one second). At about the seventeenth lap, Skah and Chelimo lapped Hammou Boutayeb (Skah's teammate). Boutayeb did not move out of the way of the two leaders and even bumped into Chelimo about three times. Skah was disqualified and then reinstated to the anger of the crowd in Barcelona.
