VCB 'Motivated' For World Champs Assault

"I am absolutely still motivated and I want to thank all my fans for their support over the years, it means a lot to me and keeps me going," said Campbell-Brown, who went on to explain her reasons for skipping the upcoming indoor season.

"I decided to forego the indoor season this year, I just want to focus on training and get ready for the outdoor season. I do love Indoors and will definitely miss competing indoors, but I think it's what I want to do, I just want to take a break from it this year," said the back-to-back 60m World Indoor champion.

Thankfully, I have qualified for the 200m already after getting the bye, so I will come to the trials and focus on the 100m so I can do the double. I cannot resist, I have to do both events and hopefully I can secure a spot in the 100m as well," said Campbell-Brown.

"I will just run the 100m (at trials) and sit and enjoy the 200m from the stands, that will feel very good," Campbell-Brown smiled.

Hence one of the reasons I think she is choosing not to run indoors this season.....she will probably pick and choose certain meets to run at as well......and we may very well not see much of her until the actual world champs start!

And neither is Jeter and I don't see Jeter slowing down anytime soon.

Jeter's not her main competition in either of her preferred events.

At this point, considering where both are in their careers, I would bet on Jeter every time she and VCB lined up together.

Both Jeter and Fraser are her main competitors in the 100m.

Jeter has "zero" Olympic individual gold medals unlike VC that has two.

The 100m isn't VCBs main event though. Felix is her main rival in the 200m

Veronica has no "main event". She has said repeatedly she gives equal effort to both and will always run both. She however has had more success at thee 200m.

Irrelevant.

VCB has been competing at the pro level for almost 12 years, while Jeter only has 6 in her legs.

Totally relevant. Fraser in her 1st year running on the international circuit won Olympic Gold in Beijing(womens 100m)

How many world records do VCB and SAFP have?

Success can be measured in a variety of ways and it's easy to favour one arguement if you refine the success measurement to just what you want to see.

For track and field athletes, success is measured by how well you finish at major championships in individual events.

VCB
200m olympic gold(2004)
200 olympic gold(2008)
200 WC gold(2011)
100m WC gold(2007)

Fraser
100m Olympic gold(2008)
100m Olympic gold(2012)
100 WC gold(2009)

If that was true athletes wouldn't hunt for world records or bother with relays and Jamaica would be considered periodic flash in the pan successes rather than a nation with a great history and tradition of sprinting.
