400 training produces the fastest sprinters?Anyone notice that all the fastest sprinters have a 400 background at some point in their career(usually early on). Flo Jo was a 400/200 runner in her early days as well was Usain Bolt and they are both the world record holders and am sure will be for a very long time. Marita Koch as well also had a strong 400 background and held world records in all the sprints at one time. Special mention also goes to Allyson Felix and Michael Johnson.
Re: 400 training produces the fastest sprinters?and Carl Lewis, Tyson Gay, Walter Dix, Frankie Fredericks, Michael Marsh, Merlene Ottey, VCB, Carmelita Jeter, Evelyn Ashford....
Re: 400 training produces the fastest sprinters?VCB? Carmelita? I am talking about running the 400 regularly as in that is your bread and butter. It was never the bread and butter of many of the athlete you named. Carmelita Jeter actually said 400 training hurt her, though it may have been her specific program. To me to be considered for this list you would have to have been a serious consideration for a 4 x 4. Tyson Gay has 400 potential but I am not sure he has had significant 400 training like that of Flo Jo and Bolt who were known as 400 runners in the early parts of their career. Many of the people you listed are simply good 200 meter runners, some even better known for their 100 meter ability than anything else.
