I'm not far from Polk County, FL where moon landings are fake and wrestling is real.

In 2002 Buzz Aldrin punched Bart Sibrel (a moon landing skeptic) after being called a coward and liar. Watch this youtube, Sibrel just doesn't let up.

Having been in Mental Health/Psychology for 30 odd years I say this to most "conspiracy" theories: These things would require hundreds of people "in the know" to pull off and keep quiet and that many people can't keep a secret over time unless they think their (+family) lives are in serious danger. What is more interesting is what drives people to question obvious facts and events. I think it's a melding of paranoia and the love of being contrary.

Having a fairly close in-law who spouts a new conspiracy theory every month (some of his own devising, but mostly just believing what he reads on the internet), I have come to the conclusion that it's not a lack of intelligence nor innate gullibility; it's a profound mis-wiring of the brain. It must be something like having a genetic predilection for alcoholism - some people are just born paranoid and see black helicopters hovering everywhere.

Not a bad movie. Though a bit hokey.

We used to go to the moon a lot.

Usually in the back of the junior high bus coming home from a track meet.
