Happy birthday today (Thursday) to an Olympic champion with two Olympic gold medals and two Olympic silver medals.

Our birthday athlete competed in three Olympic Games.

The two Olympic gold medals came in different events.

Both silver medals came in different events.

One gold medal and one silver medal came in the same event.

In the first of three Olympics, our birthday athlete finished in fifth place.

Raised by an aunt, this champion was born the same year Spiridon Louis (winner of first Olympic marathon) died.

You can't forget the hurdles when trying to figure our birthday champion for today, however, you can eliminate the field events.

Who is our gold medalist?

It is Kip Keino. Very good, Per Andersen. Happy birthday today to the winner of the Mexico City 1,500 and the Munich 3,000 steeplechase. Keino was 28 years old when he beat Jim Ryun to win the gold medal in Mexico City (7,350' elevation). Today, Kip Keino turns 73.

O.K. But what is the clue to decipher from "Rugby"?

In his younger days, Keino was a pretty good rugby player. That clue might indicate that the athlete was a male.
