Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood? Here in Chicago we just tied the record for the latest 1 inch snowfall, and tomorrow we break it. The old record was set in 1899. In fact we haven't had a 1 inch snowfall since last February or about 328 days.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Central Wisconsin is supposed to dip tonight to -25F, wind chill factor -40F. Brrrrrrr.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
More proof that global warming is a hoax!
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Record temps in Sydney, Australia the other day. Track meets cancelled. Too darn hot. 115F (46C).

Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?isn;t the salinity of the water the key, and the changes in it's circulaion
on an aside the brutal cold weather of the next few days is the coldest in the past few days i fel like i have carpal tunnel syndrome due to it
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
I set my 10k PR on the day it hit 113 in Pomona, CA (it was a soft PR, set in a 15km race run on the 4th of July, so it was not fast conditions either).
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Well, what a difference a year makes. Last year we had the hottest March on record, by far. This, well...
The last time that it was 40 without rain (low 40-42 and rain is rather nastier than, say 35) was Dec 4. Our average temp in March so far has been 25, and the next week is supposed to be lower than that with our first daily high above freezing may be next Sunday (and there are five inches of snow on the ground, with a couple more coming. Last week and next (if the forecast holds) will be almost 40 degrees colder than last year, with six in a row averaging over 50 degrees colder. Now, that is why we do not do outside track meets in March (and few in April).
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Worked first outdoor meet of the season Friday. 76 F, sunshine, lite breeze . Received an emergency call from OkSt throws coach to head the HT for tri-dual Tulsa U, which does not have a hammer facility, was hosting. So, the throwers had a 180 mile RT to compete. Change of pace/event for me but fun.
OSU redshirt Nick Miller, competing unattached, won the event with a 69.76 m first toss. He had some out of left sector throws near the 80m arc. I do not know if that is good but since he won by about 15m over some large healthy men it must be respectable.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood? Will the OT A and B marks were 72 and 64m and the WCs are 79 and 76, and here are the London results; only one over 80m (of course, maybe they have a headwind

Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Ain't actin' FUNNY, actin' MEAN! In the 60s on Monday, then major storm yesterday with the strongest sustained winds I've ever seen at our office, not much snow and most of it sublimed before it could settle, then down to about 8F last night (0F in Woodland Park where I live.) Went for a run at lunch today and the angle of the sun's telling me "spring" and the thermometer's telling me 34F at High Noon. But it should be 70 by the weekend.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Yes, we have been having late winter here too. High of 36 with a wind-chill max of 27 with rain. Only a few days since early December with temperatures above 40 and I have been gone for most and a couple only got there because rain came in, usually leaving with a snow flourish at the end. Ugg!
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Coldest, longest winter in North Carolina that I can remember
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Nastiest April in CO in my memory. A snowfall or two is normal, but we've had maybe four truly nice days this month. A bit of snow yesterday, more today, 33F now, wind. HIghs in the low 30s Thurs, more nastiness early next week.

Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
Finally, spring and warm weather. 84 today in Durham
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Dr. Jay, what's up in your part of the world?
Local radio guy last night said it was 80 in Denver on Monday, but could get 6 inches of snow Tuesday.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
That is not that uncommon this time of year on the Front Range. I remember once in Boulder when it was 70+ and we got 2 feet of snow that night with thunder and lightening.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
Yes and yes. 62F at the start of my son's track meet at 3:00 pm today, now down to about 48F and windy throughout the meet, it was cold. High of 45F in the Springs with snow tomorrow, low of 19F tomorrow night, reocrd low for the date is 15F. Conor's right, not at all uncommon here in April. What was unusual was how few nice days we had this month. I think we topped 70F twice? Yesterday was awfully nice. Spring sports are tough here. Went ot a HS meet a few years ago in late April and it was in the process of being cancelled as it barley was getting started, due to wind. Hurdles blowing over, tables and clipboards blowing all over. And the state meet is the weekend of May 18th. Some years the kids have had only one or two favorable condition meets under their belt before regionals. Give me the heat and humidity of KY any day.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Coldest, wettest winter/spring that I can remember in Durham, North Carolina since starting at Duke in 1969. Usually by now often in the 80s. Today its about 57 F., and raining as it seems to have done every day for the last two weeks. Most of the highs have been in the 60s recently. Few good, warm days. Global warming may be real, but not this winter/spring in North Carolina.
However, we will likely have another of those typical Carolina summers of 95 F daily from June 1 to Sep 1 with 80% humidity, and a thundershower every day at 4 PM.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?85 yesterday and today in Chicago. Meanwhile Minneapolis, 400 miles away, is expecting 12 inches of snow.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?15F right now, 4" snow. This is getting really, really old. Still haven't heard the weatherman give us an explanation. Likely has to do with the jet stream or La Bamba or something like that.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Yes, spring, Front Range weather. Such fun. The nice thing is the sun is so strong this time of year the snow melts pretty quickly.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?Pretty dang unusual to talk about a wind chill in North Texas in May. Record for tomorrow is 41 at DFW airport. Predicted overnight low is 36. Already in the low 40's with the wind blowing out of the north 15 gusting to 25 or 30 mph. Nasty.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?High of 59 today in Durham with rain for about 8th consecutive day. Got a tweet today from the daughter of a well-known basketball coach who asked "Can we please have spring? This is getting depressing" Had to agree with her
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
Those Dookies! Always wanting everything their way!
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood?
Yeah, well, high of about 54 today and rain all day. If you watched the Charlotte PGA Tour event on the tube, you saw what we were getting. Still miserable and supposed to rain the next 2 days but it is supposed to warm up later this week. Finally.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood? So, after two MISERABLE days for the State HS Championships (worst conditions for PV I've ever dealt with), now it's brilliantly clear blue skies with mild winds and warm temperatures. Sigh.
Re: Weather Acting Funny in Your Neighbourhood? After bitching a few weeks ago, I should go on record as sayng the weather is absolutley beautiful the last six days. A nice run in a park at lunch today on REAL grass, green and freshly cut.
