Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsSince this is an indoor list of really top marks, Rollins 7.78 hurdles mark deserves mention here (even though it has its own thread below).
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsMuna Lee - 7.21 opener
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Where did Muna Lee run 7.21 at?
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsWhere can I find the list of the top 16 of each event?
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
I think it was the CSUN All-Comers Meet. She hasn't run that fast since 2005.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
You're right! I know it's early, it's possible that can have another contender for the USA 4x100 relay.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
She'll probably need to PR(7.11) to be a serious threat to crack that nut, especially if Hooker is back at 100%. Still, a fine personal performance, especially right off the bat. I'll be interested to see how her 200 goes in a couple weeks.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsI think the 200 is where she is really going to show off.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsIf Lee can have an injury free season she will beat make the US team in the 100m.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Which means outdoors, which means knowing what was up with the wind could be signfiicant in assessing just where she really is.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Very true. I hear it was cold and raining at the meet though.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsIf the Jan 5 results are any indication there won't be wind readings. However, at 12:51 PM(60m was scheduled for 12:30) the temperature was 53 degrees, with variable(mainly north) winds at 6 MPH(+2.6mps). CSNU track straightaway is oriented north/south.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsAlso Anaso Jobodwana running 20.65 on the 10th could be pretty significant this early
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
And the 2.6mps wind is the speed 10 meters up from the ground at a location that does not have buildings or other obstructions in the vicinity. If this was the situation in the area then it would not be very likely that the wind was over the allowable level. As a note, about 10 years ago they readjusted the wind-chill formula. The biggest reason that they did so was because the experiments used for the analysis used the wind speed at the body (sacks of water?) in question, not at 10m up, which is where the reading was taken. Thus, they had to translate it so that the speed at the body was, say, 5mps, the speed 10m up was approximately 7mps. This difference (speed at ground level, or one meter) is substantially lower than the wind speed measured by the official weather stations. People calculating the effect of wind on the runners at Boston two years ago made the mistake of using the listed wind reading without adjusting for the slowing that occurs at ground level in an area with lots of houses and (mainly leafless) trees.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsKynard 7-6 yesterday.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
I'm confused is this actually an outdoors meet? I didn't even know there were any outdoor meets in North America until Spring. I have only heard of meets in Australia, Jamaica, and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere during our winter.

Re: 2013 Indoor Results
North America's a big place, with lots of different weather. Collegians and pros rarely compete outdoors, but the high school season in the sun belt is in full swing by the time March comes around. California only has one indoor track, and it's used for one meet in Fresno in February. Other than that, anything in California at any time of year is outdoors.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Make that FEBRUARY. My first outdoor meet is Feb 7. The regular season ends April 6 and the post-season is over April 27.
Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsWorked an indoor meet at Univ Okla yesterday.. was nicer outdoors than many of our spring outdoor meets.. the athletes were warming up outdoors.

Re: 2013 Indoor ResultsMutaz Barshim has been busy in Sweden lately. 2.30 last week and 2.33 (7-6 3/4) yesterday in Vaxsjo.
In Udine, northern Italy Alessia Trost jumped a world leading 1.98 improving her PB with 6cms. That makes her third highest Italian of all time behind Di Martino and Simeoni. Trost is a former World Youth and World Junior champ and she is now a first year international senior. She's tall, 6-2 and has improved her technique a good del since winning in Bressanone in 2009.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Hey Per, I believe that 2.33m mark is 7'-7 3/4". Regardless, he's going to be scary good this year.
Re: 2013 Indoor Results
Yes, Dietmar, of course you are right. Did not think, just misread the "Big Gold Book" Scary good is what I think too. He had no competition in those low key Swedish meets. 2nd in Vaxsjo was at 2.15. Nobody in Sweden can jump 2.20 (7-2 1/2) at this time.

Re: 2013 Indoor Results
It is a world lead. And kind of a big dead for her. Best was previously 52.3 from 2010, and her outdoor best is 51.25 from 2008
