Not sure if you're counting Ryan's NCAA outdoor meet throws in 2012, but he did throw 63' 4.75" in the NCAA West Outdoor Prelims, so the difference from indoor to outdoor may be closer to 3 feet if we include the West Prelims. He did seem to throw the discus a little more often than the shot during the outdoor season for whatever reason.. I wonder if those old high school leg injuries still have some lingering effects.

He actually hurt his throwing hand during indoor nationals throwing the shot. That's why he had a late start to the outdoor season and he started out w/ discus first. I remember briefly hearing from him that his hand was hurting throughout the season but it was getting better each week. He was pretty clutch at NCAA with discus. I was told he is healthy right now and throwing pretty well in offseason. Might expect big things from this kid this season.
