Happy birthday today to an Olympic champion with two Olympic gold medals. This Olympic champion was born 70 years ago today (Thursday).

Many people have said this athlete was one of the all-time best in the event in which this person first won Olympic gold.

Our birthday athlete also competed very well in another sport (not an Olympic sport).

We have celebrated this athlete here before, so it shouldn't be too difficult to name our birthday champion who was born five days before Christmas.

The hurdles have nothing to do with this person. Now, name this champion.

Robert Lee Hayes - whom I met just once, back in'88. He was a delight.

Bob Hayes it is, rhymans. I never met him, however I did see him run several times. That was a delight for me. Bob died about ten years ago (cancer), but I'll always remember him as one of the greatest sprinters I ever saw in person.
