See the link on the home page, but you have to go to track and field (this ight be more direct)

"Yesterday, anti-doping commission VFLA banned for two years, Russian runner Inga Abitovu. Meanwhile, the Russian athletics is brewing another, much more powerful, scandal. As the "SE", traces of a prohibited substance detected in doping tests Darya Pishchalnikova - Olympic silver medalist 2012 in London in the discus throw."

Apparently was passed by the (?) "prokolovshuyusya laboratory" but then detected by another lab, probably Cologne.

She was one of the seven that had substituted sample before the 2008 Games and could receive "8 to life".

There's now a link on the front page to a Reuters story in English.

How in the world would life NOT be considered? Why is there such a resistance for banning people from the sport for good, forever?

From the front-page.

Russian athletics federation president (VFLA) Valentin Balakhnichev said he was shocked by the news.

Only someone living in cloud-cuckoo land would think she's clean.

*sigh*

It's not even worth saying, is it, because they won't ever listen, but when will the IAAF do something about this? There's no way she came back last year, won the world title and then started juicing up this year...you get banned once, you lose all your results from the year previously, you get banned for life, you lose EVERYTHING you've ever done. Simple.

Another "six months after" case. I spit on their tests and procedures.

If this is a test from last summer she will lose the London medal.

I keep reading this everywhere but she didn't win the world title. Li Yangfeng did.

Pishchalnikova came 11th :?

"Journalists"... I've just read the same and closed that web page immediately. It's insulting.

From what I have heard this was a re-test on a sample taken prior to London where the original test proved negative. There may be a link to the Ostapchuk case where the Belarus head coach allegedly manipulated results coming out of the Moscow lab in return for money. Failure to pay would result in a positive test and so we have ostapchuk suddenly testing positive in London.

WADA must have ordered an investigation and where possible conducted tests at other labs. How far possible corruption may go could be interesting although full of problems to prove!

Oh yes, you're right- I have to say I questioned that report thinking "I don't remember that" but as I spent most of Daegu watching half asleep and/or REALLY REALLY drunk I didn't question it. Oh well that makes it a LITTLE better but still, let's hope it is prior to the Olympics that the test was taken, it's a complete mockery if she gets to keep her medal...
