How to avoid throwing up afer 400 meters

Postby pinoyathletics » Sun Oct 21, 2012 10:47 pm

Interesting article originally posted on speedendurance.com i wonder if any of this works. I once made the mistake of having fish soup for lunch and then did 6x200s on 5-6 min rests and threw up in the last 10m of the last rep.

What's so bad about throwing up after hard efforts? In HS, I puked after neartly every track race, sometimes after not eating as much as 6 hours before the race. You always feel better after your'e done.

How to avoid throwing up afer 400 meters? It's easy. Just walk a bit more slowly. :)

Is this article about beer-mile strategies?

I tried the Milk Mile (12 oz. after each lap) in Flight Training. I quit after 2.5 laps when I could 'literally' feel my stomach turn over.

I had a weak stomach and found myself more aat risk after the 400 than after the 800. I assumed it was because of my body tightening up at the end of the race but it usually hit me a few minutes after the race.

As to foods, there were certain things I learned to avoid. I'd never eat Italian food for lunch before an afternoon practice. Better to stick to plain stuff that digests easily.
