¶2012 OG: m4x100–Jamaica 36.84 WR !!! [with splits]Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–That's what I'm talking about! That's the closest I've ever seen an American national team look to the best college teams. And for the women to do what they did yesterday (2.56s passing efficiency), means that someone is actually coaching.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLT&FN formchart advancers to final
1. Jamaica 2. United States 3. Trinidad 4. France 5. Holland 6. Germany 7. Great Britain 8. Brazil 9. Japan 10. Canada Also Advancing to Final Australia
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Yeah, two really impressive performances.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLAnd Gatlin coasted at the end. They would have run 37.2 if Gatlin had run through the finish. I think the Jamaicans will have to run sub-37 to beat them.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Cab we borrow then please, Uk have dropped baton or been DQ'd in every single relay (jnr and snr, male and female) we've run this year
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
Possible; really looking forward to that final.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–Miracle ! The us passed the stick around the track in an AR
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLBailey and Gay in for which two? Looks like it could be the middle legs with Patton and Kimmons out.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Miracle on Mondo, coming soon to a movie theater near you...
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
Your exaggerating Gatlin only took a peak back and ease up the last 5 meters, how is he going to find another .10s to go under 37.3 with so little room to left ?
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
I haven't seen any race Bolt has run in his life where he couldn't find another few hundredths if he wanted to. Anchoring him opens up the opportunity for him to find tenths that he never looked for before.[/quote] 2007?
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
And they (the Jamaicans) will run sub 37!! However, I would love to see the USA win. If we can get a 5 meter lead on Bolt, maybe we can hold him off? Last edited by notlef70 on Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:28 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Exactly, and now it looks good the U.S. team is gonna put Bolt in that position.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLFINAL STARTLIST:
4x100 Metres Relay - M Final 2 Australia [AUSTRALIA] 3 France [FRANCE] 4 Japan [JAPAN] 5 Canada [CANADA] 6 Jamaica [JAMAICA] 7 United States [UNITED STATES] 8 Netherlands [NETHERLANDS] 9 Trinidad and Tobago [TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO] Yikes, Canada got a good lane...still won't medal though. The main thing though, Jamaica again gets an inside line (like the Women's 4x100). Very good draw, now it's just pray they do good.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLThe USA in magic lane 7 again...
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Bullshit! I've seen plenty of races where Bolt gave 110%, expecially prior to 2008. Go back and look at the Beijing 200 final.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
If you're pulling hyperbole, make it 120%
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLJust for fun (not that this really means much), here's what the mens' final might look like if they repeat the relay-efficiency of the women:
Women (w/season-bests): USA = Madison (10.87), Felix (10.89), Knight (11.13), Jeter (10.78) = 43.67 - 40.82 = 2.85 (or 6.52% of SB-total) JAM = Frasier-Pryce (10.70), Simpson (11.01), Campbell-Brown (10.81), Stewart (10.94) = 43.46 - 41.41 = 2.05 (or 4.72% of SB-total) Men (w/season-bests): USA = Kimmons (10.02), Gatlin (9.79), Gay (9.80), Bailey (9.88) = 39.49 / 1.0652 (6.52%) = 37.07 JAM = Carter (9.95), Frater (9.94), Blake (9.75), Bolt (9.63) = 39.27 / 1.0472 (4.72%) = 37.50 Somehow, I doubt the Jamaicans will pass that poorly, though.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLIf Bolt or any great for that matter are at enough of a deficit, they are not going to just dissolve away that amount out of sheer will despite their seemingly super-human ability. There is a limit to what any person can do so lets not get carried away.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
2007?[/quote] Conversely, having him go at the 4 position puts him on a shorter leg in terms of total distance required to run-he's better at 3 or 4 IMO.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLIf Jamaica (Who else is gonna win??) runs the equivalent of what the USA women did......end with a new WR 0.55 under the old one.....
their winning time would be...... 36.49. Oh my!!
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLIs It the track, the clock or is it me. Jamaica looked 'easy' and does 37.39. Fourth fastest ever then. Then the US used a reshuffled team and breaks a record that has stood since the Carl Lewis era. Wow!
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLA prediction...remember you read it here...there will be a screw up in Jamaican passing..no DQ or DNF just not their usual precision...US 37.26 Jamaica 37.29
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLgreat semifinal by U.S.
wow. was surprised by the order. Demps - Patton - Kimmons - Gatlin What does Drummond have up his sleeve? Perhaps a little gamesmanship by the Americans? Did the U.S. shuffle things around after Powell went down in the 100? Was expecting: Demps - Gatlin - Patton - Kimmons Is Bailey ok? If so, assuming Gay and Bailey in the for final, what's the order? Seriously curious about the order for the final. Bailey is not a great starter. Anyone got this???? Gay - Bailey - Kimmons - Gatlin????????? interesting.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
I haven't been able to figure out the US' order for the final but this might make some sense. The thought could be that if the US can have the lead by the 2nd exchange it might put some pressure on Jamaica and cause some problems. However, Blake running a lane inside Kimmons should be...um...interesting.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLHow about Kimmons, Bailey, Gay, Gatlin? Kimmons is an excellent starter, and I believe he's led off before. Monaco?
Too bad about the UK DQ. I see they didn't have "Harry the Tackler" in there, anyway. >:-) Cheers, Alan Shank
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
Jamaica is going run 36 even with mediocre handoffs. But the U.S. will run 36 only with good handoffs. If Jamaica has a bad handoff early, then we could see an upset by the U.S. team.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
In this sccenario I see Bolt pulling a Bob Hayes anchor blowing by whoever The U.S has on anchor for an epic relay split and win.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLHopefully both the US and Jamaica get that dang baton around. The US will probably run 37 very low and might even dip under the current WR, but if there ever was a lock for a WR this is it. Jamaica will run 36.8X.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WLshould be great final

Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
Really wanted GBR to be in it. Close out the Olympics with a good shot at a medal. Ah well, it happens.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
Bolt is the star of these games and he will anchor. He anchored in Daegu with a WR and he will do the same here as well if the baton is passed around correctly.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–
The American men won't break the world record.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
With Blake on the third leg, Bolt will have a lead at the start of the anchor and smash the world record in 36.85.
Re: 2012 OG: m4x100–US leads Q to final in 37.38 AR, WL
I hope the US have the lead when Bolt gets the stick. If Blake gives it to him with a lead, the race will be a blowout. It would be an infinitely more exciting race if Bolt has to run down Gatlin for gold.
