Felix Running 10.89 in the 100 makes her way more dangerous than VCB running 10.81.
With that said though, VCB pretty much deleted any doubts she had coming into these games. Another Felix VCB show looks possible, with the olympic places switched this time.
BUT, Im waiting to see SRR in the 400, because she has saved so much energy through the rounds. If she wins the 400m, she will be mentally, and physically ready for the 200. I would not be surprised to see her pull a Perec/VBH.

That would be very nice if SRR could do that, however, neither Perec or VBH had competitors that were able to run 21.8 or faster, which is at least .2 seconds faster than SRR has ever ran. But just as TrackDaddy would say, never count SRR out....LOL... I'm going for AF though to win the 200....

This years Felix is not last years Felix. She has no 400's slowing her down. Her 100 record this year has been her best. VCB is great but this year she will not beat Felix in the 200. I also predict Felix will run sub 48 in the 1600 relay.
I will be watching my girls VCB's endurance as she comes off the curve in the heats and the semis. If she gives me any indication that she can hold her endurance speed i expect her to give it her all and try to medal
VCB look to be in much better shape than she was three weeks ago.She looks very fit. As for the 200 I have no idea where she is because she was awesome in the 100 at trails and almost got left off the 200, she made a bum ass Sherome beat her. And I am still worried about that 22.73 two weeks ago. I think Felix is the one to beat but you can never count out the great VCB.People love to count that old gal out but she loves to prove people wrong. Either way VCB has nothing to be ashame of if she loses the gold in the 200.She won medals in every championships. I think she was focusing more on the 100 this year because she really wanted that 100 gold medal and she ended up with a bronze that she is very proud of. She can retire tomorrow knowing that she had a freaking amazing career that no one can ever be able to take away from her. Before Bolt VCB was the only one winning any kind of medals for Jamaica just like Ottey back in her days.So lets not forget how great VCB is and all the great things she has done for Jamaica. Love you boo, win or lose your still the mother f****ing queen VCB.Hold you head high girl your fans love you no matter what, we are there through thick and then we have you back. You should have seen me jumping for joy when V won the bronze, you would have thought that she just won the gold lol.

@running for life lets just leave sherone out of it . As seen yesterday what VCB did at trials is irrelevant as she once again brought her A game and i dont want to be cocky but sherone will not place ahead of VCB in that 200m final

Agreed. Felix confirming her role as favorite. And VCB with a medal already in her supposedly weaker event.
I completely agree with the above .I think Felix is the dead on favorite but with that said i will keep my eye open on jeter and safp and especially VCB who said she needed some rest and now she is completely fine .
I think it will be interesting to see what effect the rounds of the 100m will have on Felix, we saw the effect the 400m had on her last year and also we have seen (over many years) the effect the 200m has on VCB as well as Jeter last year.
I know many are taking into consideration the 100/200 Felix did at the US trials but that was with 4 rest days I believe. Felix, SAFP, VCB, Jeter has 1 day to recover, while SRR has no rest day.
I see Felix as the favorite but it'll be interesting to see how this entire meet unfolds. I am interested in seeing what SAFP can do as the unknown entity in all this....
I'm also hearing very promising things from Sherone Simpson who remains as the only non-doubler in this field who is in it with a shot.

I think i am mostly waiting to see VCB i really want to know what sort of form her 200m is in .If she gives me any indication that she is capable of running sub 22 (Im hoping ) i will take my hat out to her

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if VCB can pull out a sub-22. I think she is definitely in the shape for it.

No way.I'm not counting VCB out until Allyson beats her.VCB is the real deal, although I'm rooting for AF.Looks like 21.58 as along as conditions are good.
While VCB's 100m performance certainly showed she has more speed than she'd shown prior to the games, that doesn't really tell us much about her speed endurance. Let's not forget her last 200m performance only a couple of weeks before the games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16KPsU2RzWg&t=96m11s (w200m at 1:36:11). Speed wasn't her problem there.
Marlow wrote:Must I be the first to state the obvious? American Sweep!
Quite possibly, it could happen. Sanya played it safe to win the 400, when she possibly could have broken 49.00; Carmelita ran 10.78, when it looked as though 10.80 was lost to her; and Allyson ran 10.89, when some thought she'd bring up the rear. Whoever wants to beat Allyson will probably have to break 11.00 around the turn and hold form for the entire stretch. It can be done. Bolt has run 9.9 on the turn in both of his WRs. It will take a sub-11 turn and then some to beat Allyson, because none have Allyson's closing speed.
Considering that Allyson ran 11.07 and 21.69 in the same meet a month and a half ago, what potential in the 200 would her 10.89 give her this week? Quite scary, considering that Michael Johnson's best 100 was 10.09.
Likewise, Carmelita ran 10.90/22.37 in Daegu. How much faster will she run in the 200, with a 10.78 in her back pocket?
As for Sanya, she has absolutely nothing to lose. She will burn rubber for a sub-22.00 clocking. I hope she don't get lane 2, 3, 8 or 9...well, maybe lane 8 she can do something with, considering what Big O. did.
