No way!!! What for? She won the silver. She must have cut in too early! That is terrible, she fought all the way for that.

She is DSQ (at this moment)! They are trying to figure out why on German TV but except minor elbow contact with Chernova there is nothing.

As long as she didnt cut in too early or step onto the track, there was no contact with Chernova, that was ridiculous. She should have the silver

Silver and bronze for Chernova and Yosypenko, provided DQ holds up.

They showed a replay of half the race and there wasn't anything even remotely worthy of a disqualification.

The German team is about to file a protest.

I agree. She didn't cut too early and almost certainly didn't step on inner line. I hope for protest.

I've just re-watched the race. She didnt cut in too early and didnt step inside the track, nor did she impede anyone. I think she'll be reinstated

Schwarzkopf just said in an interview with german tv, that the british officials told her, she is not disqualified, they mistook her for the runner in lane 6.

Schwarzkopf just said she was approached by one of the judges, they showed her a picture which revealed that they got the wrong woman. It wasn't her who stepped on the inside lane, it was Savitskaya on lane 6.

Totally ridiculous that they took this moment away from her, she has won silver though.

and because of the DQ Lilli didnt get to enjoy the victory lap, her greatest achievement ever, because of that false DQ. That's terrible.

And the same for Chernova and Yosypenko, who thought they had silver and bronze

So no medal for Yosypenko?

(Was hoping a different Ukrainian would win at least silver of course)

Pleased for Lilli if she didn't infringe of course, 6618 and no medal is amazing.

DecFan wrote:We've had a long discussion about this before - you can find it by searching. I'm an advocate of that change, and calculated that despite the non-linearity of the scoring tables the order of finish in the 1500 would have been the order of finish in the decathlon in all of the WC and OG decthlons in the last 25 years. I didn't do those calculations with the heptathlons.

The main argument against this change: It switches the advantage of drafting from the athlete in the lead to the athlete who is behind.

Thanks, found a thread about that.

Lilli reinstated:

Ennis 6955 (NR)
Schwarzkopf 6649 (PB)
Chernova 6628
Yosypenko 6618 (PB)
Skujyte 6599 (PB)
Nana Djimou Ida 6576 (PB)

so, only one person under performed there, guess who it was?

F it, no medal for Ukraine.

Lilli won silver fair and square though so no complaints, just as in Berlin.

What do you expect from a system the produced Blonska, Tobias, Yefromova etc...

It's ridiculous that it's gotten to this. I feel very sorry for Lilli.

This is just bad sportsmanship by the ukranian officials, Savitskaja in lane 6 stepped on the line, but they are trying get Schwarzkopf disqualified (or Chernova), to STEAL a medal.
