2012 OG: m400–Kirani James (Grenada) 43.94 (9 x W)Re: 2012 OG: m400–Very shocked at Gonzales.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Probably shocked more because of what he has done the past 2 years. He hasn't been running anything great this season.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–McQuay not really bad, but not really good either
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Really terrible running by all the Jamaicans which is a big surprise. Unusual for all athletes from a country to bomb. Those of us who have tipped them for a 4x4 medal should be nervous...
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
Looks like McQuay misjudged the race. He went out more conservative that he wanted to and had to make it up with a harder stretch run.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Chris brown wins....45.40.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
I think that's a bit of a stretch. Last year was more of an exception than the rule, looking back at the Olympics and WChs over the last 20 years a lot of finals were fast, some after fast times in the previous rounds, some despite slower times in the previous rounds.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–WOW LeShawn Merritt is out, so sad.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
This is so asshole-ish.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Damn, wanted him to defend. Now, gh's statement/question has been answered. Now the worry about the USA's 4x400. Yikes, yikes, yikes.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Merritt out...no surprise there after monaco.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsThink Solomon justified his selection
Re: 2012 OG: m400–It's hard to imagine the US could finish the m400 without a medal considering the history of the event, but a lot of signs are pointing towards that.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–So out of order that the crocked drug cheat didn't let the reserve run. Twat.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
He shouldn't have been here in the first place. IOC rule was correct
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
Huh?
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsThe USA 4x400 looks vulnerable.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heats45.14 for K. Borlee
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsLooks like it'll be the first time starting from 1984 that the 400 won't be won by someone from the USA.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–
Exactly.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heats
Other countries licking their chops.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsT&FN formchart advancers to semis
1. Kirani James (Grenada) 2. LaShawn Merritt (USA) 3. Jonathan Borlée (Belgium) 4. Kevin Borlée (Belgium) 5. Tony McQuay (USA) 6. Luguelin Santos (Dominican R) 7. Chris Brown (Bahamas) 8. Bryshon Nellum (USA) 9. Demetrius Pinder (Bahamas) 10. Martyn Rooney (Great Britain)
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsLMAOOOOOOOOOO dude on the BBC panel is ripping Merritt, basically saying karma got LeShawn and he's glad he's out. I believe it was Dean Macey, they didn't show who was talking.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsAs a fan, would have been great to see Merritt, Borlee 2, James and Santos fight it out. Hard luck.

Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsis it not a toss up now between santos james and borlee x 2 ???
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heats
What BBC panel ? Radio ?
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heats
Same, and I just wanted to see the USA streak continue in the event. Also like seeing champions defend. I just hope someone steps up and gives us a sub-44 final.
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heats
As a fan will love to see Borlee 2, James and Santos fight it out. Great result
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsThough I wish him every success, I don't imagine that Nellum's run-from-behind luck will be as promising in London as it was in Eugene. Eventually, he'll have gone to the well one too many times going for that wait and kick. Should he employ a different tactic going forward despite what has gotten him there?
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsWhy are Americans so sad because their druggie is out when he should never have been allowed back in, in the first place?
Re: 2012 OG: m400–Defending champ Merritt dnf in heatsOn a sidenote, wasn't even sure for a while Merritt was really out; there was still a runner in there who was wearing red, and with the new red outfit I've confused U.S. runners before.

Television BBC1. Macey, Iwan Thomas, and some lady (not Katherine Merry). https://twitter.com/Jwariner/statuses/231696294278729728 https://twitter.com/Jwariner/statuses/231698566647791616 Last edited by Weights&Shoes on Sat Aug 04, 2012 2:37 am, edited 1 time in total.
