With SRR right behind her, Gushchina is going get out fast I think and with being in a center lance she will be able to judge her race much better than the heats. I am guessing everyone is going to raise their game come the semi's and I expect CO, Whyte and Gushchina will make SRR work for it... Sub-50 in the semi finals for SRR me thinks.
Much as I love TBO she works my last nerve. FFS how hard is it to run through the line???
I always get the cold shoulder here for expressing the view that TBO is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
TBO is extremely intelligent but also a complete idiot if such a thing is possible. She even slowed up on the line in both 2007 and 2008. It's as if she thinks she's running a 399m race rather than a 401m.
So annoying and if she gets lane 8 in the final she'll have only herself to blame.
This lane talk is so overrated. The turns are wide enough even on the inside. The best will come out on top regardless of the lane. Conserving as much energy as possible is a lot more important.

I thought exactly the same thing, she looks as good as she ever has and ran the race as easy as possible to conserve energy. She knows that in the past the way she's expended energy hasn't been right and I think she looked really good. The arm jeggings are to cover her lesions I believe, so if they make her comfortable when racing, it doesn't matter.
Krivoshapka looked like a woman on a mission, her turnover was really impressive for someone who is mainly a 400m athlete, interesting to see what tomorrow night holds.

I thought they both looked like they were working
Trotter did her normal race pattern (start slow finish fast thing). Whyte went out hard and seemed to be dying..... I think the both of these girls ran a bit too hard.
Whyte clearly slowed down on the home stretch while Trotter was laboring home
NBC justify the coverage based on what they believe is what Americans want; sad buggers And so frigging arrogant, the assumption that every other country s triumphs are not of the slightest interest to American viewers. Mind you, you guys have not really grown up yet.
Thank God for the British TV coverage, where I have been able to watch a wide range of many sports whenever I wanted. Loved the drama of the Weightlifting.
Its we Brits who should be insular as a small island.
What I struggle with is why are the modern TV Olympics of any use, if they encourage nothing but jingoism and small minded Nationalism etc??
ok, this is what nbc showed last night when i got home.
first half hour: a recap of american women's gymnastics triumph in 1996. A WHOLE FUCKING HALF HOUR!!!!!! when they could have shown something that anyone with a brain would care about. i don't give a fuck what ... archery, badminton, handball, weightlifting, boxing... who cares as long as it's something from london 2012!!!!!!!!
as for the vb match, daisy, it was pathetic how they showed 3 minutes here, 3 minutes there and tons of commercial in between. i think when they first cut in for the vb, there was one play and then immediately a time -out, so they cut to commercial! what the #$%@%@!%@!!!! (good thing i watched most of that match online earlier.)
and if i have to listen to paul sunderland yapping one more time... this guy is quickly joining tom hammond and carol lewis in the tv sports infamy hall of fame.
end of rant.
hoping for fast times in the final. as much as i like sanya, i'm rooting for the small country of botswana and a gold medal for africa!!!!! go, amantle!!!!!
(also wishing felix had chosen this event, rather than 100.)

uakari, if you want to save the results 'til you get home to find out, why don't you then just watch the events you really want to see, on the internet stream? They're all there. Nothing is missing. You can even stop it to take a comfort break and start it again when you come back. You're totally in control. Switch from one event to another. No gymnastics at all.
