I've been watching the British Eurosport feed on links at http://www.sportlemon.tv They have shown what seems to be an endless loop of swimming-watching races they had shown 60-90 min. prior. The site has been providing 7-8 that are just general links and then they provide some links which indicate a specific sport that seem to be only available, if at all, when the event is going live though others might have had a different experience.

Hopefully track will receive the same treatment as in play....replay....

I watched this link feed.
It started out GREAT......for the first hour or so.
No pauses, no buffering, just continuous coverage.....all track.
THEN.......it started pausing/buffering.....and got worse and worse and WORSE!!
It got so bad, I stopped watching.
It would pause when the runners were at their marks....then 30 seconds later would come back on for 5 seconds, showing the runners halfway around the track.....no starts seen, no first 200, etc!!
Is this the best FREE link??
Hopefully, it will work PERFECTLY for the women's 10K later!!

What da hell part 2.

It is bad enough that us Americans are the only ones on earth that can’t get to watch the Olympics live on TV, then NBC is saying that you can watch everything live(except the opening and closing ceremony) on www.nbcolympics.com
Now, I got up early this morning to watch the track and field and it is just a raw feed with no sound, no commentary. What da hell? Every other English speaking country in the world is watching it live on TV with the English/BBC commentary and you would think at least NBC could provide the same.

NBC just knows how to pee off its viewers.
Also, why did it seem as if there was a advertisementl every two minutes of the live streaming coverage. Much more ads than on the NBC TV coverage.
The only redeeming value from this morning’s coverage was that the picture quality was excellent overall and that is courtesy of Youtube servers that is handling the internet broadcasts.
For this afternoon’s track coverage, I will use one of the numerous online resources to watch instead. I need commentary.

Good commentary is welcome (and rare). I have enjoyed Tim Hutchings commentary on some of the Diamond League broadcasts (hope I'm getting his name right). But -- following conor's point -- having endured decades of t&f broadcasts in the USA and the abysmal quality of almost all of that commentary, the live feed w/o any commentary has been a welcome relief. And, as one who knows he will never be in an OG stadium for any session of athletics, the live feed with the crowd responses is as close as I'm ever going to get to that experience. So, the live feed with the expert commentary I get on these boards (not being sarcastic ) is a great combination. Case in point -- the analysis of the multis. Watching the live feed and reading that is outstanding.

Good commentary is welcome (and rare). I have enjoyed Tim Hutchings commentary on some of the Diamond League broadcasts (hope I'm getting his name right).

Excellent commentary, like Hutchings, Peter Matthews or Stones in the field events, is an added bonus. But for the most part American TV sports announcers are just a huge irritation. Just constant babble that I can do without. With two exceptions and that is soccer and ice hockey. And I watch the Chicago Bears games by muting the sound and turning on the local radio station.

Well this morning for instance, I didn't miss Ato Boldin one bit! Not ONE BIT! Hammonds either.

But there were a few instances where I did catch myself wishing that there was some commentator there, a good one like the Diamond League guy someone just mentioned, to fill me in on a little detail or two.

For instance I saw a runner named Cornel Fredericks. And yes, although it was not critical to my enjoyment of the events this morning, I would have enjoyed a commentator telling me if this was the son, of the great Frankie Fredericks. (This Cornel was South African too I believe. A clear resemblance to Frankie too imo.)

So little things like that, I do miss. Same when runners are being introduced in the blocks.

Now I'm not asking for long, drawn out, weepy music filled NBC features on all the athletes. That kind of thing is ridiculous in my opinion. But a little detail here and there does help me enjoy televised meets a little.

Oh yeah, and athlete interviews. I would like to hear from the athletes after they compete sometimes. Particularly if it looked like the athlete may have injured him/herself. Or something else out of the ordinary occured in the race.

So while I share in the "who needs commentators?" sentiment to a large degree. At the same time, I do acknowledge certain limitations to that. Things that I as a fan miss out on, when there is absolutely no commentary at all.

NBC is not just catering to the die hard fans like us, they also have to cater to the non sports casual viewer and draw them in with human interest stories etc.

I loved it in 2008 when NBC when down to Jamaica and featured Bolt and Asafa's in training. How boring was that. lol. You guys are killing me here

My nbcolympics mobile app has the main feed now. I'm watching heat 3 of the w100 there.

The mobile app has been slow to add feeds to it's available list.

Nada on NBC stream - cannot get past the screen where I am supposed to tell them who my provider is. It is seeded with the correct provider but I can click on the thing a million times and nothing happens. Also picked the provider from the drop-down list, but that did not work either. Both IE and firefox.

Normally watching track in the U.S. is like going hiking but being required to do so with a rock in my shoe. I must endure and ignore in order to gain the enjoyment I seek.

Listening to these British guys announce, especially the field events, is a dream. They not only know the events, they are able to communicate that knowledge without cliche. It's genuine, unlike the crew we are subjected to here, and that includes Stones, who long ago chose his NBC overlords over the sport he claims to love.

Can we just have these guys all the time?

Good news. Looks like NBC listened after all.
Apparently, the Olympic stadium has several streams one of which was the “raw feed”. The stream titled “Main feed” however did have commentary with the BBC commentators and they were very good in setting up the heats of the womens 100m.
