Bib PB for her...could in theory go over 6700!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
So maybe she's not going to falter like everyone expected.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Should be good times for Fountain and Zelinka as well, don't know exactly yet.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Can anyone hear that guy with the really deep voice. I think he's familiar.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—PRs for Zelinka and Fountain also. Chernova off her projection by .14.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
1170+ points.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—NR
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Tied with Kellie Wells for third fastest woman in the world this year.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Ok, very early days and only one event gone, but some of these women have just set great SBs and PBs...I wonder if the Ennis-Chernova-Dobrynska assumption is actually going to happen or whether some of the others will step up (Fountain, Zelinka, Savitskaya, Schwarzkopf, Tyminska..)?
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Well at least she took the record from a "Plastic Brit"
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
I think that Chernova is the big loser from the first event. She was probably a second behind (still no times!!). May just lost the Gold
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Projections after the hurdles (not adjusting the upcoming events based on the hurdles, or adding any other athletes)
Ennis 6975 Chernova 6886 Fountain 6696 Dobrynska 6654 Zelinka 6573 Savitskaya 6551
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Well close enough she ran 13.48 for the last place. Both Zelinska and Fountain with PBs (12.65 & 12.70). Wow!!!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Aerts and Nana Djimou both under 13 as well. Big PBs for both.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Beside Ennis I was most impress with Savitskaya. I believe that if she can handle the pressure she is likely to win a medal
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Had my doubts about the stadium, but I must say it looks great packed. Especially with the good weather.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Seats on the homestretch are really far away from the track, though.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Ennis--12.54!!
(Hept record??) The fastest I can find (on the all-time list in the Athletics Annual) is a 12.64 by Sabine Paetz in her 6946 from 1984. Fastest wind-aided is the 12.62 by Eunice Barber from her 6889 in 2005. JJK's fastest in her 5 Hept's of 7000 or more points was 12.69!!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Or Nana Djimou? If she improves on her Helsinki score, she'll be up there as well.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Have no doubts about the stadium- am here as I type and the atmosphere is electric! Ennis sent the place stratospheric! Good amount of clapping and cheering for the triple jump and shot too
The only "shame" is that I'm not with mental track fans, just general public (don't get me wrong, that's great generally...but I wanted someone else to understand the magnitude of what Ennis just did!) Still, the stadium atmosphere has made me realise it was the right decision to bankrupt myself and come to everything!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Absolutely. We often see women set good PBs in the opening event, so it'll be interesting to see who remains focussed for the next 6 events (or motivated to respond to Ennis's great start) Of the Big 3, Ennis was obviously the most impressive, but Dobrynska showed she's nearly back to her best. Chernova wasn't too far off hers, it's just the others stepped up and made her look poor in that fast heat. Both Chernova and Kurban finished last in their heats, leaving Savitskaya as the most successful Russian in that first event, despite being the slowest on paper of the 3. Zelinka confirmed her great form, and I must say, I was impressed with Fountain. We'll get a better idea of who's in form after the HJ. If Jess can go 1.89 or higher and Chernova and Dobrynska stay on 1.83, she'll be building a lead they won't be able to catch unless one of them does something special. Really keen to see if Savitskaya now matches her HJ and SP (1.88 and over 15 in Russia)
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—16 pb's in the hurdles - a fantastic start. Very few off their usual marks (by this measure, Chernova has the 3rd-worst start of all, but was still less than 30 points down on expectations). It's a very deep field, all the way down the list.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
That's really interesting. Glad you're having a great time. I thought this morning I might be pissed off that I wasn't there but great as the crowd looks I have no spectator envy this morning at all. I know this sounds awful but the general public would do my head in. Are you going to every session? We must get together at some point.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Everything bar Thurs morning, yes.
I've got tv envy though- I miss Crammy! Thank god for Wi-Fi in the stadium- keep tuning in to BBC Online! Ridiculous! Yes, be good to hook up for sure!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Peachy, did you just get obscenely LUCKY in the LOTTERY, or how else did you get ALL those tickets?!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Savitskaya with a miss on her first jump at 1.74 . . . 1.88 is her PR. Over on her 2nd attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Waiting for live results on the London 2012 website is like waiting for Godot. Anyone have a link to a good, fast, live online results service? The videoa footage isn't showing the jumps
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Here comes the rain. This could affect big jumps
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Savitskaya makes 1.77 in 2nd attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Sharon Day makes 1.77 in 3rd attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—
Just one in the ballot, a lot and lot of hard work since! Sun is coming out again to keep the HJers happy...
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Jess failed 1.80 first time!
Re: 2012 OG: wHept—Ennis with a miss at 1,80 . . .
