9 lane track. SOMEBODY on your formchart ain't gonna even make it to the final. (and probably more than one).

They're using ALL 9 lanes? this is news to me.

With the new format introduced at last year's WC I def think 1-2 of those names won't make the final.

Judging from previous form charts it may be as high as 2-4.

Also, did they tweak the lane situation when it comes to the finals? I forgot the format, but it was terrible seeing Lemaitre and VCB in Lane 8 during the 100m Finals in Daegu.

The rules are immutable, as they should be. Run well, you get a good lane; run poorly and you run the risk of not.

In the 100, who cares? Kim Collins won the Paris 100 from lane one.

It seems that Asafa is being targeted in London.

He reported to camp last Tuesday, the last athlete to do so.

Since then he has been blood tested three times, with a fourth test having been done prior to his arrival at camp. The most recent, as just reported by Bruce James head of MVP on TVJ, was at 10pm London time August 2nd. It was also pointed out that Asafa runs for the first time in less than two days.

This is deja vu; Asafa had complained about similar treatment prior to the start of racing in Beijing, but even then they hadn't taken blood so close to his actual competition.

I don't know how other folks feel after blood is taken, but I know that I feel weak. I can't imagine how it feels to have blood taken three times in seven days.

Excessive? It certainly seems that way to me, but then again I'm an ardent Asafa fan. If we hear reports of Gay and Gatlin being tested in similar manner then I'll accept what is being done to Asafa but without hearing of such treatment this certainly seems excessive to me.

Isn't it a relatively small amount of blood they are taking? I certainly feel a little week after donating blood, but not after giving blood samples at the lab.

I am positive Asafa is not being tested any more than say a Bolt, Blake, Tyson or Gatlin. Just relax and please don't use the issues of "numerous" tests as an excuse of Asafa fails to perform up to par in the finals on Sunday.

Well hopefully everyone is getting tested the same. Sucks for Asafa, as he isn't the prime candidate to be a doper. If so, he would likely have better speed maintenance.

Care to share their testing stats that you are so positive of? Asafa has had blood taken from him three times in five days so I'd be interested in hearing that he is getting treatment equal to his peers.

The blood samples are small amounts taken.Get over it Asafa,Get over it Jamaica.Don't they test regularly in Jamaica ? Asafa always complains at major competitions about being tested. It's according to science.

Regularly, yes. Three times in five days? no. I'd say that is well outside the norm and grounds for complaint.

I think track athletes everywhere lost all grounds to complain when this happened

Dr. Wright from Jamaica suggested on TVJ news last night that Asafa is "making" up missed tests since he wasn't at the training camp most of the time while the other athletes there were being tested regularly.

But that can't be seeded till you have the results of the run-in prelim.

The runner's are not better but again the damn track is faster and they don't even hide it. Fuck'in Mondo tech-advances spitting on former runner's still they haven't run faster than Bob Hayes 8.6 relay leg. Could you imagine what Hayes would run on this track 9.33.

Been saying that for a while. Would love to have seen Hayes on a modern track surface instead of that churned up cinder.

Why's the time period between the preliminary round and heats so close compared to the Women's 100?

The entire process requires less than five minutes of time (identification verification; sleeves rolled up; needle entered into visible vein; blood sucked through a vacuum within the vial; first vial removed; second vial entered into the septum needle; vial filled within +/- 30 seconds; cotton swab applied; bandage places over needle prick). Next test would be drawn from the main visible vein in the opposite arm. It's not a significant amount of blood; the body regenerates the blood nearly overnight.

Because having Mr. Bolt make an appearance during the morning session sells tickets and none of the athletes from the first round will have a chance to qualify for the semifinals anyway. Plus, the semifinals and final are held during the same evening session for both men and women regardless.

Hopefully Chambers has finally rounded into form. It would be really disappointing to finally get to run, and not make it out of the first round. For 2012 he is the sixth fastest guy in his heat.
