OK folks, rip us to shreds! (T&FN predictions)

The link to the 47 by-event PDFs now available on the front page.

With that much data cranked out between the OT and now, there's bound to be a howler or two in there. Stick it to us! (and we'll just as quickly effect a change and pretend we had it right from the get-go  )

The German 4x1 ran a NR 38.02 today, which should put them around 3-4th place in the form chart.

No Guillermo Martínez? Kibwé Johnson in #9 sounds awfully like wishful thinking...
Getting Tomasz Majewski's first name right in a T&FN formchart is almost heresy! Morozov isn't in Russia's m20K walk team, Kanaykin is.

An observation: For some events you list indoor PBs for others you don't. What makes this confusing is, for example womens SP the PB for Ostapchuk indicates indoors by the small i, but in the mens HJ, indoor bests are not marked. And in the mens SP no indoor PBs are listed at all, Whiting and Storl both have better indoor PBs than outdoor.

Gee, 47 events times 10 spots (probably 15 athletes considered) = . . .uh . . . carry the two . . . take the inverse logarith of the tangent . . . um . . . LOTS of data to collate!

What depresses me is that I took a lot of time and effort to come up with my own picks - finished them 2 days ago, and I did all that for nothing, because mine are almost identical as these.

Biggest differences:

I think you have it backwards on m100/200. Bolt will take 100 but then not have the strength to hold off Blake in the 200.
Merritt's cramp won't keep him from winning - but it'll be close.
I bet Rupp beats KB and almost Farah.
I still have Jamaica medaling in the m4x4, but you might make me change my mind.
[Thank you for the Mars and Ws - I shall copy them verbatim]
Jesse sneaks past the Russkis.
CC takes the SP!

I really think VCB is toast.
I agree that Semenya does NOT medal.
Don't agree with the w1500 at all
I think Isi will NOT pull it out

Unless I miscalculated, the formchart gives USA exactly 30 medals! Really doubt it's going to happen though...

Why do you call the Turk Cakir and IAAF says her name is Alptekin?

P.S. In the picture of Kaniskina in the w20W, I couldn't help but notice that she's . . . uh . . . never mind, MJR will just give me a long lecture if I say it.

formchart trivia, while waiting for some actual athletics...
Here are the most venerable best marks of athletes in the formcharts:

w10km
Kidane (2003)
w100h
Foster-Hylton (2003)

mHammer
Ziolkowski (2001)
mDiscus
Alekna (2000)
m800
Borzakovsky (2001)

Long careers to have best marks that far back and to be successful enough now to be on the formcharts this year.

Clearly if Blake is given the 100m then the situation is the same for the 200m and he 41`3``should also get the nod...why wasn't he?

I think its downright illogical to give bolt the 200m but not 100m either that or the predictors are trying to save face, should bolt repeat his double gold heroics...subjective predictions

...there I ripped one.

Rupp for a medal?

God, mine aren't...

The Aussie team have a goal (quite an optimistic one) of six medals so they would be disappointed if they only manage the four top-8 positions listed here.

FWI, in the womens4x100 Ukraine won Bronze in Daegu last year, not Russia.

The mens Long jump looks like you picked names from a hat.
And the selection of Isi makes 0 sense.

The pick of Isi makes perfect sense because there is no clear second choice to pick over Isi. Just throw Speigelburg, Suhr, Murer in a hat and choose one. That doesnt make sense to me. I chose Isi to win also. Sometimes champions find a way to win. I would rather take my chances on Isi and her no height over all of the others.

Her inconsistency is off the charts.
And also considering the rational for bumping other athletes down in other events contradicts putting Isi on top.

Were there many Americans in fourth or fifth? That constitute a potential upside.

You'd be crazy not to pick Isinbayeva for a medal. She jumped over 5 meters indoors this year. She has barely competed outdoors this year, but that is standard for her.

It's not a slam dunk like it was 4 years ago, but she doesn't need to be 100% to win. She may bomb out and do nothing, but if I was betting on the outcome, I would pick her for a medal.

Having said that, I would love to see Jenn Suhr win :)

She clearly is the most likely winner, even if she has a good chance to not win (and possibly place low (or NH) because of her strategy and her objectives -- anything less than first is a loss.
