arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsregina george of arkansas and elizabeth olear formerly of USC (california) are competing in the nigerian trials that start today.
i see jeneba tarmoh is running the USA trials, but i heard she may run for sierra leone if she does not make it. any other americans possibly running for other countries in the olympics?
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialswhat about ronnie ash who i think has dual citizenship USA?sierra leone?
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
Are you sure about that Tarmoh, thing? Didn't she run for the USA last year?
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsyes she ran at worlds last year for USA, just talking with friends who aretrack fans on who would make the teams and her name came up and now with richard-ross doing the 200 (probably tarmohs best event) felix, duncan, knight, jeter and more running the 200 if she does not make it, I KNOW she has dual citizenship with sierra leone, so it was suggested if she does not make it she may run for sierra leone (i am not saying she does not have a shot at team USA, but she is a lock for sierra leone IF she decides to run for them)
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
She cant though, she represented the US less than a year ago. She has no choice but to sit out if she does not make the US team.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
I'm betting that you don't follow those eligibility/allegiance threads, which can be confusing, because...you have to sit 3 years when you switch your allegiance is what I'm thinking. Ramil Guliyev, Amaechi Morton, Justin Rodhe...
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsAnd Regina George represented US in the 2010 IAAF Juniors in Moncton. Would she even be eligible to run for Nigeria? That's not a 3 year gap.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsregina george ran 51.6 today fastest qualifying time for the finals on thursday.
close to her personal best of 51.57 and she said it was raining.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
According to an article I read a few months ago regarding Justin Rodhe and his change of allegiance to Canada, it stated that the new IAAF rules require a 2 year period before permission is granted to change allegiance, but that this can be waived 90 days before a competition by appeal, but that may only apply to his particular case. The newly amended IAAF Rule 5, which involves requirements for allegiance, is at the link below. There are various exceptions to the rules and appeals can be granted. http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/06/44/5 ... nglish.pdf
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsAnyone know if Amaechi Morton is running US or Nigerian Trials? He's not entered for Eugene (yet?). I read, for what it's worth, USATF was asking Nigeria for a release:

Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsYes Justin Rhode became victim of the 2 year rule which was because of all the Middle East athlete buying from Eastern Africia. He is married to a Canadian Hammer thrower and lives and trains in B.C. Thankful the IAAF made the ammendment.
There was chatter of Jonathan Cabral running hurdles for Canada by virtue of a Canadian parentb ut he represented the USA at World Jrs in Moncton. Just today on the Athletics Canada site it shows Fawn Dorr / Penn State /400mh/400 from Upstate N.Y. as eligible for Canada. I am not sure of the circumstances as to her link to Canada. She is entered in the hurdles for Nationals in Calgary.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsAnyone know how to find the results for Nigerian Olympic trials in Calabar, Nigeria?
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsWhat about Chizogiza Okadogbe from Oregon (California),who ran the 4x4 for Nigeria at the WC last year ?

Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsElizabeth Olear is cleared, although when at Louisville HS in Southern California she was on the USA Junior 4x100 Relay World Record team that competed in Bejing in 2006 for World Juniors Championships. It's been 6 years ago. Both parents from Nigeria, and she was born there as well.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
It's only 12 months if there's documentation that both nations agreed to the earlier transfer... Maybe it's a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" type of situation.... ("We'll sign over Regina George early if you'll sign over Amaechi Morton", or something to that effect....) Last year Nigeria got bad news at the last minute by IAAF, when several athletes that they'd planned to use in Daegu and assumed were eligible were declared ineligible by IAAF because of dual citizenship, including Okodogbe from Oregon who'd represented Nigeria at World Juniors in Moncton the year before..
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsnice personal best for regina george in finals today.https://www.facebook.com/AthleticsAfric ... 5476801063
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
Apparently he is running for Nigeria. He just won the 400h in 50.31
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsAlso Blessing Okagbare jumped a PB of 6.97 in the long jump.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsSecond PB of the season, her best since her 2008 bronze medal win, along with her 22.63 200m best and 0.01 off her 100m best.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsThis would be very surprising if true for George. As an NCAA athlete I'm sure she has been tested several times this year.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsWell one of them was just back from a ban , the other two registered massive PBs in the last few weeks but still beggars belief that they messed up their intake cycles to allow themselves to fail in- competition tests.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsGeorge runs the 400m...but what about the other two? I don't recognise those names.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsVivian is a shotputter and all this is suspicious to me. Seems like Nigeria is fighting doping hard
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsregina george just said on her twitter, she has her ticket to london, and her flight is at 6 p.m. today, all of her tweets sound like she is competing, and no mention of the article or test by her.
is there any possibility the article is wrong or that she does not know her test results yet?
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trialsthe article is wrong regina george DID NOT test positive, source regina george.
Re: arkansas 400 runner regina george in nigerian trials
Don't know what it is, but something doesn't seem to be right... The article from the Nigerian newspaper yesterday, that most of us have seen already, stated: Three Nigerian athletes already in London preparing for the Olympics have tested positive for banned drugs. Although the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), declined to name the affected athletes, on Sunday, a source confirmed that Vivian Chukwuemeka, Lauretta Ozoh and Regina George were those who samples tested positive to banned substances. The informed National Sports Commission source also revealed that the leadership of the Team Nigeria camp in Surrey, England has been informed and ordered to decamp the affected athletes immediately.
