Gushina and Firova though... It will be interesting to see what they do. That relay team will be fierce though only if...

A possible medal in the relay?

Last I checked, they hadn't qualified for the relay based on their atrocious time at the EC.

(Clarification: it is my understanding that relay qualification is top 16, based on aggregate of a nation's best run time in 2011 and in 2012. Russia has a 3:00 performance on 2011, but a best of 3:08 in 2012 and is therefore outside of the top 16 on aggregate.)

Russia is easily in because it's just the best two times from '11/'12, and they have two 3:00s from Daegu.

(We have a thread here with all the qualifying teams: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47334)

Is Krasnov still pacing his race horribly? The last time I checked he closes like a freight train but his first 200 or so is way too slow. They should put him on 3rd leg or anchor so that someone can drag him along.

Ikonnikov 80.71 M HT
Vinichenko 78.09
Posdnyakov 74.94

Silnov two misses at 2.39, passing to 2.41. Or, possibly, just passing.
6th place was 2.31.

Ykhov, BTW, had two misses at 2.28. Silnov had single misses at 2.31, .33 and .35, then took the lead by clearing 2.37 at "the first time of asking", as they say.

Firova 49.82
Nazarova 50.07
Kapachinskaya 50.37

a possible USA 4 x 400 to counter that

demus
mcrory
felix
richards

should be a great race, i pick USA

I doubt Demus makes the team....
McCorory - Felix - Trotter - Richards

The only reason I think the Russians have a shot is because of this ludicrous 4x400, 4x100, 100, 200 quadruple that Felix is doing. Also Richards-Ross 200, 400, 4x400 attempt is also a concern (and heaven forbid she pops up on the 4x100 as well).

I always mix up Silnov and Shustov but found a way to keep them straight. Silnov looks like Putin. Shustov always ksses his hands (what is up with that?). HJpers are so quirky.

Thank God Ukhov looks completely different (and is very cute!).

I just love it when dopers come back after being suspended and run/throw even further than before.

Well clearly she isn't the only doper that has return that as run/throw further - that's a fact
I love how you post this and it will be quite haunting for the rest of the year & future

And fastest by a Russian since Malchugina's 22.18 in 1996!

Interestingly, Malchugina's daughter was a well-beaten 5th in this race...

Wow, in that case it's the fastest European time since Block's 22.17 in 1997!

Btw, do you have a link to live results?
