Re: EUGENE WEATHERafter a dry (but surprisingly muggy) Friday, today is projected for some more wet stuff falling from the sky. Hopefully that will be confined to only when I sneeze.
Re: EUGENE WEATHERweather service say showers starting at 3pm and continuing for...hours and hours....
This just in! The last day of the Trials.....NO RAIN!!!!!!!!!!
Re: EUGENE WEATHERuh-oh! I certainly hope it's a large bird with a urinary tract problem that's spotting up my windows like mad. (yes, full points to anybody whose immediate reaction was "wait, birds don't have urinary tracts")
Re: EUGENE WEATHER
Well... in colloquial British English 'bird' can mean 'young woman' and your windscreen might not be entirely safe in many of our towns and cities when pubs/clubs close in the early hours. Still looking forward to London?
Re: EUGENE WEATHERThe weather was once again a hinderance to performances especially in the field events. There should be no permanent home in Eugene,OR for the OT's.Sad for the athletes that trained 4 long years to have to qualify on the U.S. team in those conditions which it rained so far 6 out of 9 days up there.
Re: EUGENE WEATHERThe weather gripes are pretty funny. Most of the country is in a record breaking heat wave. The east coast is having large power outages. Colorado and other mountain states are up in flames. And yet, Eugene is a hellhole because it is 60 degrees and raining, which is an anomaly this time of year.
Re: EUGENE WEATHER
Temps are normal here in California where the trials were held in 2000 & 2004 in good conditions for the ATHLETES.
Re: EUGENE WEATHER
We Oregonians already know that EVERYTHING IS BETTER IN CALIFORNIA. That's why we welcome Californians with open arms. Now you just stay down there with your smug ideas about why Sacto is best for the Trials and we'll stay up here with knowing smiles on our faces. Or instead of sitting at home pecking away on your computer, why don't you come up and see for yourself why Eugene is a better place for the Trials? I've been to Sacto three times for big events; have you ever been up here for a national championship meet?
Re: EUGENE WEATHER
If you can show me that rain is more of a hindrance than 100 degree weather, I might buy into your argument. It has only rained hard on the first day and rained hard for a few moments during other days. Eugene weather will come a lot closer to mimicking London weather than Sacto weather would have. Next time they hold the Olympics in Phoenix or El Paso, we'll be sure to put Sacto into the mix, though I would expect them to cover the grandstands even though you don't seem to care much about spectator comfort. But hey, from a weather and athlete standpoint, why don't they just hold them at Santa Barbara HS? We don't need no stinkin' spectators!
Re: EUGENE WEATHER
Bingo.
Re: EUGENE WEATHERThe 'normal' Eugene rainfall the last week in June is a 'whooping' 0.03 inches per day [based on NOAA official norms]. That is, it averages almost a inch per month at that point. Care to give me a location east of the Mississippi that is less than this amount. This much rain in Eugene at this time of year is atypical -- it happens but not very often, as in less than once in 20 years or so.
