Is that what that was? I thought maybe she had been disfigured in some horrible accident. :)

Has it been that long (2007) since she left Kersee or are you referring to somewhere else?

Hey TD. Another Oly Games. Has it been eight years? And still nothing like it - other than your fabulous correspondent work in '08!

The young lady is feeling it! Consistent and perhaps faster as well (not knowing what she could've been doing in those days with more true opportunities @ 1&2).

Yeah TD, Hastings has been with a few athletic enclaves since USC-E. I believe she was with Brauman for a short spell before Kersee and then Frye before Woodson. I could be wrong.

I was just wondering if she will invest a bit more time with this one. Although if the programs are similar and change (environmental/comfort) is due to other factors that is certainly as important as well. And I do recognize these days that there are other opportunities besides T&F for these well educated and aspiring professionals.

Because she's 29, not 31.

Any possible connection to football must be brought up. It's probably not so much sexist as just plain tiresome.

I don't know why they always mention Aaron Ross. I know Sanya is married to him, but he's not an elite level NFL player. He's a middle of the road player who's solid at best. They don't even mention that Natasha Hastings is dating another NFL player William Gay. If Aaron Ross was in attendance today, he won't be seeing that many people playing in Jacksonville in the fall.

Excellent comeback for Trotter, in what was most likely her last shot at the Olympics. If it is, she has a shot to go out on top with a relay medal, although she'll only be 33 during the Rio 2016 games.

Hey 18.99, you know what I was getting at. Whether she's 29 or 31, I'm not getting that face painting, complete with sparkles or whatever. Not at that age. But, maybe it'll catch on. What do I know? I never thought I'd see the day when guys walk around with their paints halfway down their legs, showing their underwear.

She said after her knee surgery she began putting the paint on for motivation in her races.

Where did you find this info? Are there relay pools announced for the men's 4x4?

Otherwise, congrats. Gutsy race by her.

Most women of all ages paint their face to some degree once they hit a certain age....at least in the US. It has a funny name....make up....or something like that.

Being a first-round draft pick and the winner of the Jim Thorpe award, Ross was more than just a journeyman when he arrived in the NFL. And based on the money that Jacksonville is paying him, they don't see him as a washed-up over-the-hill, has-been either.

Aaron Ross though is not a superstar player in the vein of Ray Lewis, Charles Woodson or even Troy Polamalu.

As I saw it, Sanya went out very hard and pulled close to McCorory, who then ran the middle 200 very, very hard -- too hard. I thought she was going to blow her chance, but she managed to hold off Dunn. Dee Dee ran a great race, not as far back at 300 as she tends to be. AFAIC, she can wear whatever she wants on her face -- who the &((^&(& cares?

Recall that, back in 2007, Dee Dee won the USA champs and Sanya didn't make the team; now they're both going to London.

Unless she has a relapse of whatever her disease is, or an injury, Sanya looks good for gold; she has a pretty good cushion on Montsho, et al. Let's see: 2006, 2009 -- what's the next number in this sequence?
Cheers,

TD will be able to die happy. Nobody in London will beat SRR ; her flat speed is too much for Montsho or the Jamaican, and the Russians have no one in her class.

As many people here know, when Sanya won the WC in Berlin she pointed at the camera in the post race interview and said...

" This is for you too, TrackDaddy."

I cried for two days (I also peed my pants). I've always had this tremendous belief and connection with her and she's shown her appreciation to me in many ways (including inviting me to the 2008 trials and her wedding), but that was the ultimate. I was shocked as I can't think of a better way to have acknowledged a fan, which is all I really am (Ive been called a stalker by some haters lol). I still tremble when I see it or think about it.

The truth is that when i've ever been close to her at meets or other times...I'm terrified and can barely speak. Paralyzed lol. My wife is like..."get a grip" lol.

Anyway...

I LOVE YOU, SANYA!!!

If she wins in London and don't let her double successfully, yes, I will tell Fred G. AND Elizabeth, "this is the big one" and I'm ready to join them :D .

If she pulls off the double, there will be a lot of people eating crow around here. Even a win by Lolo wouldn't get her out of the Olympic shadow that Sanya would cast in that scenario.

Maybe this has been said but Sanya looked completely at ease after her race with no signs of exertion after one of the toughest distances to run without exhaustion. She looked completely un-knackered!

Seemed quite confident in her race approach with rediscovered high sprint speed aspects. Can only imagine how she felt with McCorory's slight version of her @ '05 Helsinki. An element of maturation perhaps as she as well alluded to.

Sanya seems to have gotten to the point where she's confident enough to completely ignore what folks in other lanes are doing, since she knows they are going to all come back her before she gets to the finsh. A few years ago, she might have reacted to McCrory.

I agree, I though she was going to do that. But she has her race plan and no matter what happens she is not changing it and it really is working 100% and all her recent races.

I could see her running with the other 7 lanes open and still dropping the same time.

I don't know about the peeing the pants part, but some of us on here heard her say that on TV and posted about it. (can't find the post) I think it was the Versus channel. I was shocked too as I had read TD's post and had no reason to doubt him, but to hear it on TV was like, woah.

Plus, he posted a bunch of pics of him with her and her family. I think at the wedding too. None of them looked photoshopped.

It was great to see Francena take the race out hard instead of sitting back and relying on her kick. Granted she might've overdid it considering the atmosphere but she had enough strength to hold onto 3rd and make the team. I'm sure she'll reconsider & tweak her race tactics but I still want to see her take it out like she did.

That's right.

Two Hampton alums on the team (her & Kellie Wells) and a third one (Yvette Lewis) who made it to the Trials.

I wouldn't, just because its gutsy doesn't mean its the best thing for her to do. Its hard to think she wouldn't have PR'ed if she had run the race that she always does. but instead she tweaked it and almost payed for it coming home.
Coming into the competition she seemed like one of the favorites with SRR. Hopefully she learns that playing with race strategies in an important final like that probably isn't the best idea.

I love McCrory though and know she has a lot moving forward. Hopefully she can fine tune things, and I can really see her making the podium in London if things go right. Its not out of the realm of possibility.
