I doubt many other athletes would tweet they are a virgin/had sex X amount of times just because... Not saying I know why she tweeted it, but just saying...

I'll bet Jumbo was thinking of Preston, who has given the clear impression that he loathes the Derek Redmond story and the attention it's given as a source of inspiration.
bman wrote:Its not that she is a savy marketer. Its that she gets used as an attention getter for various business interests because she is white and female and American and attractive. Simple as that. Again, I don't blame her, but I don't really like the above situation because it is not fair to other athletes.
But I'm a "hater" right?
FYI, Lolo is Black.
Its not an attack on her. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just saying that to the sponsors, looking white is a help. Honestly, this is obvious, although I understand your bias because I know I had my own in this race (the race on the track that is, lol).

I thought you made an honest mistake, but if you knew she was Black and called her White, you were being a jerk. Light-skinned Blacks don't appreciate that kind of talk and you know what I'm talking about.
I think what bugs some of us is that it feels like she seeks out the attention in manipulative ways. The whole virginity thing is what put me over the top. Does she really need to share that? But this is the age we live in and she is capitalizing on it.
Oh and the nonstop I can't get a date and I don't have any money routine......
Okay I am done.
I have learned that reading someones tweet can make you a bigger fan or completely turn you off them. Could name a few other athletes I can't take and have stopped following...TMI!

Agreed. Like I said, I commend the promotion, but its done in the wrong ways.
As I stated on another site...several people dogged Lolo out in regards to not being able to make the team...for those individuals, there is blackened and poached CROW being served in your honor lol...congrats to Wells and Harper as well. Glad for Harper

I am not and would never comment on "what race she is", per say. I perhaps wasn't clear on this and I apologize. My point is that white privilege exists, and there is no one, objective standard to judge who is "white" and who is "not white", it is just based on social perception. And in Jones's case it is obvious she benefits from a certain social perception. I don't hold this against her, or I would have to hold it against every white person. But I think it is a legitimate question to ask why certain social groups are over-represented when it comes to the selling of female sex-appeal.

No mystery. It is called Demographics...appeal to the majority.

I guess we're on the verge of hijacking the thread, but agree with this. There's no doubt that light-skinned Blacks have traditionally been treated better by Whites than dark-skinned Blacks. Even Colin Powell admitted in his autobiography that he doesn't think he would have advanced as far in his career if he was dark-skinned.

I was sitting close to the starting line, and when I saw the flinch, I was surprised that the gun didn't go off a second time to call the runners back. That being said, the gun didn't go off a second time, it was no false start, end of story.
Ughhhh I feel almost physically nauseated that Lolo made the team.
I don't think there has been any athlete I have ever seen, in any sport, in my entire life, who rubs me the wrong way more severely than Lolol.
I hate everything about her.
First of all, her personality is pure trash. Never have I seen someone who thinks they automatically deserve shit more than her. Any time anything doesn't go away, you can instantly tell just from looking at her stupid annoying looking face that she is in disbelief that the universe could possibly not automatically grant her the preordained guaranteed-privilege of everything always going her way, no matter, what, at all times. Her brain is utterly and completely incapable of thinking/caring about anyone other than herself. She clearly can't even comprehend that there are other athletes in her event, many of whom are much better, and much more deserving than her, who try every bit as hard as her, if not harder, and are more dedicated to the sport, and their training, who actually correct their retardedly awful "technique" instead of just wallowing like an idiotic crybaby all day of "WHY MEEEE how could this impossible thing ever happen to me of me not automatically obtaining a gold medal despite my supposed infinite beauty and deservingness, I don't understand waaaaaahhhhhahahahhhh sob sob sob are there enough camera people getting this come on camera people come to me I am the only that matters fuck the gold medalists fuck the people who actually earned their shit its all about MEEEEEEEEEEEEE". PPPHHHHHHRRRRtttttttttttttt...
Never have I seen someone appear more insincere when interacting with their peers on the track, be less willing to accept that other people did great shit too, not just her, many of whom did far greater shit that is far more commendable. Nope, not Lolo, to her they are all just random insignificant sub-humans and the whole entire everything is all about her, no matter what, at all times. It has to be. Fate magically told her so or some idiotic shit.
She makes cringeworthy remarks about random people for no reason, acting like she's "just playing" and ACTUALLY truly believes she is somehow so much more beautiful than any other athlete, OMFG LOLLLL. Seriously her face is downright ugly, does anyone have eyeballs. This normally wouldn't matter, since people can't help how they look, but if she's actually gonna make comments of not being able to help being so much "prettier" than everyone else (LOLLL), then this begs the honest, truth, her face is at best in the bottom 10% prettyness-wise of the total female athletes in the entire track meet. Jesus fucking christ, I mean just look at English Gardner's face for example, who was standing beside her before the race, without that giant sneer of assumed superiority, just peacefully cutefully existing, in her beautiful delicate way. THAT is a beautiful girl. Lolo jones looks like something smushed out of play-doh by a kindergartner. Fuck this "I'm so beautiful nyeh nyeh, everyone else is ugly I'm so cool cuz I'm the only pretty athlete evar and I deserve everything no matter what" bullshit. UGHHHHH
I hope she gets retroactively DQ'd upon review of her flinch or something, I will cry tears of joy watching and re-watching her sobbing in a sea of self pity over how it could possibly be that someone as beyond-godmode as her could ever get called out on their massive horseshit.

I was watching on a 20" TV and I immediately said to myself, "Oh shit, Lolo's going to get kicked out of the race", but she didn't. GeauxLolo!
jamaica50 wrote:I think Lolo should have been disqualified for that flinch in the 100m hurdles final. .
I disagree. She did not move in the blocks. No one on the starting line saw her shoulder twitch. I doubt any of the starters saw it. In fact, it was probably detectable only on camera. It was a good even start. The object is to have a fair start, not look for an excuse to DQ. If you call that, you could call them for breathing in the Set position.
I am actually happy that Lolo made the team. I was wrong in saying that she would not make the team, but now it's time. All three ladies have something to prove. For Lolo, it's a chance for redemption from Beijing. For Kellie Wells, its a chance to get her message across and also a chance to make up from Daegu last year. For Harper it's a chance to successfully defend her gold medal and if she does, I don't think she will be overlooked this time around.
Harper and Sally Pearson will be the favorites. How's Pearson been doing this year?

Yeah, tell that to the officials that threw Jon Drummond out of that 2003 World Championship race.
All day today I was literally just daydreaming in pure joy/happiness about how infinitely awesome it would be when Lolo missed the cut, and getting to watch all the Olympic tv promos have to awkwardly scramble to figure out wtf to do about having filled 99.999999999999999% of all the promo material for the entire Olympics with nothing but Lolo and her annoying self-loving face. But NOOOOOOOOOO, she just HAS to eek her way in. FUCK. This is the worst thing that has ever happened.
I am physically upset. My hands are trembling from disgust that that awful person had to make it AGAIN onto the team. ARgh, I barely even want to watch the Olympics anymore. Every sinlge commercial break of all time is going to be of her. It's gonna be like, some cheesy sappy music, and showing her whining about not getting her preordained gold in Beijing due to the universe being against her despite her supposed awesome looks that made her deserve it automatically infinitely above and beyond any other athlete ever making ti the worst injustice of all time why-me-ness of all time ever, and then, it'll cut to her standing with her hands on her hips with her ugly smile in front of fashion photographers, and it'll be like 'BEAUTY? or PASSION? and then it'll show her and her garbage hurdling technique barely not tripping over a bunch of hurdles and then it'll cut to some more sappy music and be like "Lolo, the most beautiful amazing gold-deserving human in the universe, BOW TO HER." and then the commercial fades to black, and then on a black-background screen in bold white letters it'll just say "LOLO: God." and then slowly fade to blackscreen. That's gonna be the promo commercial thing they will air during the entireity of the Olympics now. Great... I can't wait... ::vomits uncontrollably::
nicest person ever -- please be nice. at least give her credit for her gracious reaction to losing the gold medal in beijing -- it is a big part of her story/marketing.
Dawn Harper is the defending Olympic champ, medaled in the most recent WC, and made the OG team again. By the time Trials are over, how many athletes are gonna be able to say that about themselves?

Probably just LaShawn Merritt, unless you count Angelo Taylor's WC medal in the relay last year.

Too bad that wont attract attention.
I do hope all three ladies stay healthy, and Lolo can work on things to get faster by the time London come around. Yes Pearson is pretty dominant, but a US Olympic sweep could be possible.

But we have seen false starts called for much less of a flinch. Now you will counter, rightly, that in those cases the infraction was called from the pressure sensor and not from the flinch. I think, though, that a flinch is distracting to other runners even if it doesn't result in pressure on the blocks. I am not going to allege that her flinch here threw off Manning in any way, but it could have, we'll never know. She (Manning) did have a sub-par start, in my opinion.
I clearly saw the flinch, and I would think I would have if I were in the stands as well. Not worth a DQ obviously since there was no actual false start but I think the race should have been called back.

Harper would have to successfully defend her gold medal for her to get notice. Even after she won her gold medal, all the talk was about Lolo's fall as well as the failures of AF and SRR in their individual races.
